DH job dilemma---ideas?

Hi, all. Danni, Pat, Aravis, everyone, I truly need your opinion on this. As you recall, DH was uncertain about his job situation. The company was to have been sold. The buyer backed out. The lease is up on the building, so it looks like they will have to find a new corporate site, etc. Although DH is relieved, it is still uncertain when, or who will buy them out. DH has a job offer from his former boss. There arent many jobs there (he has to let someone go to get DH there, which I am not happy about, but I guess the guy wasnt doing the job, iffy performance, late, etc.). Positives: More money (about $3/hr more), better benes (somewhat), works with same boss. Negatives: Job description: more driving, slightly longer commmute, no office desk work, maybe having to work weekends occasionally. I say, go for it. DH is worried about truck, refuses to get another!! Ideas? Thanks. Whiz.

If he is not going to be working at a desk, does that mean he is out driving around and getting reimbursed for mileage? The reimbursement rate is generally a little higher than the actual out of pocket expenses since they are supposedly giving you something for depreciation on the vehicle. Is it enough extra that it could help absorb any extra repair expenses? Any chance that he could negotiate for a company car? $3 an hour is pretty darn compelling.

Whiz, how frustrating! Never an easy answer!!!
Will he be getting more hours? Or just the driving / commuting is adding to his total hours away from home?
Does HE have a problem with the commute? Or do YOU think you want him home more than that will allow?
What all is wrong with the truck? Do you have any plans to fix it up a bit as parts go bad? Or does he just PRAY it will continue to run!? :)
Give us some more details, and we can figure this out!!!! :)

P.S. HUGS!!
Well, around here, a definite job offer is something we would jump on -- honestly, no matter what the new inconveniences are. Or are there lots of other jobs available? And it would be great to stay with a boss who obviously values your husband. Good luck with the decision!!
