This is my first time posting to this board, I have been lurking for a little while. I am about 43,000 in debt (including my car, which is about 25,000) and I finally paid off my student loan this month...I am sooo happy.... :) I might join the snowflaking club, cause now I am going to take the money that I paid toward my student loan and put it on my next bill :) Wish me luck..and strength not to spend anymore!

Wow! Good for you paying off your student loans. I am in awe. If you use that money toward debt it should start an avalance. Good luck. And congratulations!

Crystal - congrats on paying off the student loans! That is such a freeing feeling, I know.
All my best,

Hello Crystal,
Good work on paying off that student loan! When we were within 6 few months of paying off our car loan, I was offered a 0% APR credit card deal for a year. I deposited a balance transfer check, paid off the loan with it, and then continued to make our regular car loan payments to the zero interest credit card. We paid it off faster and the balance transfer fee was *far* less than the amount we saved in interest for those 6 months! I promptly cancelled the card to prevent myself from using it once paid off. =)

Congrats on paying off that student loan!! That's wonderful news! :-D And snowflaking is a wonderful idea to start targeting your next debt. I'm not all that familiar with student loans, but do you know if you'll get a letter that says you've fulfilled your payment obligations now that you've paid it off? Such as with a house loan or car loan? If so, hang it up somewhere in your home where you can see that letter daily. That might keep you motivated. We did this with our last car payment, our son's karate school loan, and most recently with our refi where we paid off our 2nd mortgage. Each time we got a letter, we slid it into a frame in our living room so we would see it and could celebrate it each day. We took them down after a week or two, but it was a great motivator each time we had a letter hanging. :-D
