Tax refund/how long?

Good morning! I just filed with Turbo Tax for the first time. I'm a little skeptical I did everything right because our taxes and deductions are kind of complicated but it can't be any worse than our usual tax preparer who has made big mistakes in our returns for the past three years! (Each time the IRS flagged them and reduced our refunds -- bummer) Anyway, I filed electronically and this morning it said the return was accepted. How long before the refund is mailed?

Thanks,

We did that last year and I think it was just a couple of weeks-I was pleasantly surprised that it didn't take longer.

As long as there are no errors (and there shouldn't be as long as the info you put into Turbo tax was correct) you should receive your refund in a couple of weeks. I filed Jan 21 and I had my refund direct deposited on Friday (Feb 3). In a few days you can go to irs.gov and click on the where's my refund link and it will give you an estimated date. However, Turbo tax gave me a date of Feb 3 and the irs site said Feb 7. Turbo tax was right. If you have already filed you have the advantage because some people are still waiting on tax stuff, so you aren't competing with as many people to have your forms reviewed, so it should be faster than say if you file in March.

BTW, for those of you who haven't filed yet, you do know you have two extra days this year. Taxes (or an extension) must be filed by April 17th not the 15th. The 15th is on a Saturday, so the government is generously giving everyone until Monday the 17th.

I filed my taxes with Turbo Tax and my return was accepted on 02/01/2006. I found after playing a little bit on Turbo Tax that my refund should be direct deposited on 02/10/2006. Go back to Turbo Tax and see if you can find anything. I think I hit the button that says something about continuing your tax at the bottom of the page where it says your return was accepted.

HI Donna:
I couldn't find anything that said when. I tried pushing most of the buttons on the page that said the return had been accepted and it didn't give me a date. Maybe because I asked to have my mailed rather than electronically deposited?

I've always found the refunds that I am owed get to me quicker when I file with Turbo tax. I don't know why but the get to me fast. As far as having the check mailed, I don't know how much longer it will take for the money to get to you. I wouldn't think it would be much longer than the direct deposit though, just the added mail time.

Here are the dates that you will get your refund depending on when you filed:

The IRS releases the chart each year. It has been right every single year for me (including this year). Take care!
