Anyone see Wife Swap last night?

One of the wives said she spends 65-70 THOUSAND dollars a SEASON on her clothes!!!!! She had racks of stuff that she wouldn't wear anymore because they were last season!!!! I couldn't believe her husband didn't even make that big of a deal out of it. I don't know what he did for a living but she hosted loungerie(sp?) parties at night.

The other mom spent less than $500 a year on clothes for a family of 8. They would come out of church and there would be bags of clothes that people left for them by their car.

I was stunned by the first mom. Nicki

I didn't see the show, but wow, that seems awfully excessive to spend that much on clothing each season. I don't think I'd ever spend that much in my entire lifetime! LOL! :-D In a way, if you think about it, it's kind of sad because that poor lady is probably missing something in her life....or just inside of her, esteem-wise, that she has to have all these fancy things just to be happy. When she wears her outfits out and about, people probably don't pull her over and reach for her tags to see what designer made her outfit. They probably don't even realize how much money she spent on her outfits. It's something inside of her, obviously. It's a shame she couldn't just walk into a room, dressed nicely, in budget friendly clothes and feel proud of who she is without having to let the cost of her wardrobe speak for her.

On the other family, I had to smile when I heard about the bags of clothes being left near their car during church. What generous church-friends they have to help them out like that! :-D It can't be easy to support a family of 8, and I'm just happy that people helped out like that. :-D

Wish I had seen the show!

Yeah, and those outfits were off the charts "tacky"! I'd think they were for a play or something--in fact, they looked cheap! I did see the show and thought I'd rather live w/ the family of 8 than with this lady. Also--IMO--her house was super tacky too. Honestly, I think she was just good old fashioned bored. I don't think they ever said what her dh did for a living but I can't imagine what would support a 300G+ /yr shopping habit. It's sickening really. I don't know who'd be impressed by that--I wasn't, not even for a second.

I saw bits of it and I was shocked too; I think she said something about not wearing the same outfit twice even. And IMHO the outfits she wore were sort of trashy ~ the sequined glitter stretch head bands, the garish sparkly/metallic clothes, and her breast always about to fall out, she seemed like a Solid Gold woman past her prime. OK ~ I'm done being snarky now but my heavens she was out a control with the clothes and the amount she paid for them.

I saw it too. I personally thought the clothes she wore wasn't worth the price she said they cost.

However, the sad part was she spent so much time shopping and doing her stuff, that she didn't see much of her family.

MYM

P.S. She did a very generous thing at the end...She said the kids of the other family computer, videos, etc.
