We received $2000 from my late grampas estate today. Totally unexpected. Here goes a great big snowflake towards debt! We'll set a little aside to spend on a mini 3 day vacation with my parents that is planned for June, but the rest is heading right off to debt.

Wow, what a nice surprise. I like your idea of part of it going for a mini vacation. Bet that's what your grandpa would have wanted. And the rest snowflaking -- great -- it gets you off the debt journey that much sooner.

Congratulations! That is a nice surprise. And I'm sorry about your Grandpa. I bet you'd rather have him than the money any day, but since you can't have him... well, the money's nice. :)

Enjoy your mini-vacation.

Blessings,

That's great, Cindy (not the part about your Grandpa). I'm glad you are putting some of it towards your mini-vacation. It is so easy to get so wrapped up in debt that everything else gets put on hold! It was nice of him to think of you :)

Hello,

I received a similar gift from my grandmother's estate last year. My brother used the money he received to help make a downpayment on his first house. At the time, we used the money to pay down debt. Since the person wanted you to have the money, I don't feel there's anything wrong with using it as you wish, especially if it helps your financial situation.

Sincerely,
Lindsey Schocke
