What do you all do to de-stress?

Hi, everyone. Q-What works for you to de-stress about $$$, work, etc.? By nature, I am not an upbeat, giggly personna. Lately, I've been snappy, frustrated, not feeling well (knee pain). I cannot do the "eating thing" because of my diet. I have started to go out a bit with some friends, and take mini vacations, but I am still feeling "guilty" about my debt mess (and charging some of the medical bills). DH isnt helping. He says I am getting myself into further cc debt by charging the medical bills, but really, what recourse do I have? I still owe a lot, and the emergency fund just isnt enough yet to pay them off! IDeas? Whiz.

I like to surf the net, reading, and we also take a really nice vacation every year. We consider that forced relaxation and we come back energized and ready to fight our debt.

For you I would just continue to make payments to the medical bills. Pick the lowest balance and send everything you have to it, while still paying the minimums on everything else.

I would not charge the cc bills, as a matter of fact I would not charge anything. Cut the cards up and don't look back to them.

You need to take the balance of each bill and put them on a debt amoritization spreadsheet to figure out a goal and stick with it!

Hi, Shannon. Debt amoritization (sp?) spreadsheet? I'll guess I'll have to learn Quicken, quickly, as it is becoming a nightmare to keep track of snowflakes, etc. Any other ways to do it? Thanks.Whiz.

I was going to say the same thing. The gym is my sanity saver some days. Especially when DH is traveling and it's the only way for me to get a shower in. DS is such a light sleeper my alarm wakes him up and he doesn't nap....

I also like reading books as relaxation and I used to do a stress relief yoga video every night. That was so helpful!

Hi, BP. Thanks for the walking tip. THe exercise (and stop smoking thing) are next on my get fit campaign, since I've kept the weight off for 6 months. Have 20 more lbs to go. There is a place nearby that is a lake (with ducks and geese, etc.) that I am going to try on my days off. The doc wants me now to walk (or exercise) 3x/week AND is going to try me on the patch. How far do you walk? Do you do exercises along the way? I was intrigued by your experience with the medical bills thing. Am having the same problem with the hospital, x-ray, etc. Anyway, I hope to start this week (slowly). Appreciate support. Whiz.

I am stressed and irratible as well this week, so I can definitly relate! Here are a few ways I destress:

1. take a nice long walk. (I like to check audio books out of the library and listen to those.)

2. check out books and magazines from the library (and movies!) and spend the afternoon indulging in some good stories!

3. take a bubble bath

4. sit in the bookstore with a mug of coffee (or tea) and read the magazines or newspaper for free.

5.take a nap!!
