Heating bill

Our heating bill in Jan was about $185.00, the highest it's ever been.

Our back door (located in kitchen) was a hollow wood-particle board, apparently most of the homes in this neighborhood have these doors. So we replaced it with an insulated door that we found on sale for $130. We bought an insulated "jacket" for the water heater for about $20, and H put foam wrapper on all of the hot water pipes he could find. He also put a weather strip on the bottom of the front door because we could feel cold air there. I hoped we would see a difference, but didn't think it would be alot.

Feb was colder than Jan, and yet our heating bill was $125.00!!

Not only that, but the temperature of the house has been more even, I usually only touch the thermostat once or twice a day.

We spent about $165.00 doing these things, and I think it was WELL worth it. I am just so thrilled, I wanted to share!

Hello,

Congratulations on reducing your heating bill! Ours went down this month too, but I'm sure the unusually warm weather had something to do with it. =)

Sincerely,
Lindsey Schocke
