Need help with lunchbox snacks!

Hello~

I need to stop buying all of those prepackaged junky snacks for DD's lunchbox such as: ho-hos, fruit snacks, huggies, jello cups .... you know what I mean? She never buys her lunch, so I'm running out of ideas. But I buy those snacks and they are gone so fast (it doesn't help that they devour them at home too!) She does like packaged peanut butter crackers and those are under $1.50 for a big pack. Any ideas for cheaper healthy snacks? PS: She doesn't like sandwiches.
Thanks! Nicki

Hi there,

I too am always looking for new ideas. My daughter doesn't like sandwiches either and doesn't want me to pack anything she needs to bring home or anything in a container that may spill or break. Therefor, we don't do fruit cups, and no containers from home. She also doesn't like cheese, she says it gets too mushy by lunch time. And no, she won't take an insulated lunch bag because she doesn't want to carry it home. So, that being said, most of her lunches consist of half a bagel, toasted with cream cheese and wrapped in foil or pita pizza sandwiches (half a pita, or a few mini pitas from trader joe's with a little seasoned tomato paste, slices of pepperoni and slices of mozzarella cheese, not baked). She also likes baby carrots, pickles, black olives, granola bars, beef jerky, pretzels, teddy grahams, goldfish, and other crackers.

I buy big boxes and sort them out myself. I have found that costco has good deals but you are limited in variety and it means a lot out of pocket all at once. Target actually has really good prices on most of the above mentioned items.

Also, I just hide some of her lunch stuff so she isn't snacking on it when she is home and could be eating something else.

Good Luck!
