Swearing off trigger store!!

Okay, so I have store that whenever I go into it I spend WAY too much $$. It's not walmart it's the red one;-) I love the kids clothes, the craft stuff, the shoes...EVERYTHING there makes me happy...excpet the bill. I can buy whatever I need at other stores so I think I am going to go cold turkey on it.

So I hereby challenge myself to avoid that store until April 1st(I would be a fool not to;-)

Anyone else done that? Anyone else want to swear off their trigger store with me?

Mine is old navy, I always convince myself that I really *need* more clothes than I get. I am a substitute teacher and my wardrobe only has a few outfits that I wear to school, since I'm just beginning my teaching career. I have been avoiding old navy even though I received a gift card for christmas...it's only a 30 dollar card and I know I will spend too much!

So I'm with ya! Not sure how long...as long as I can hold out with my 4 teaching outfits! lol

Hey, that is such a good idea...and i can tell you from personal experience that it works!! There are a couple stores at the mall that i go crazy at..I stopped going to the mall pretty much altogether. Now when i do go (three times a year, maybe,) I am so conscious of what my triggers are that for the most part, I am able to avoid them. This is also what i did to get myself out of the habit of using the vending machines at work..went cold turkey, and now after a year, I do occasionally still buy out of the vending machine, but it isn't that common, and I can certainly live without it.
Way to take control! You go, girl!!!

I'll swear off Walmart! :-D This sounds like a fun challenge. I just cannot walk into Walmart without spending $100 that I didn't intend to. Even when I make a list and convince myself that I'm going to stick to it, I get trapped in the clearance and seasonal aisles, and I just buy so much stuff I really don't need.

So...no Walmarting between now and April 1st! I can get my Spring flowers and plants for my yard from a local 'Mom & Pop' nursery instead and help their business out. :-D

I made it through day 1!!!! I even returned something to target to start it out right! I needed some $$ to take the kids to the movie and it isn't in the budget so I returned something else I bought that I bought from my meager allowance and took them out.....

Pat-not only will you support small business but you will save $$. even if it costs a little more you will save tons of money on non essentials....that is what i am hoping

Okay, sounds like a plan. I'm swearing off of JC Penney at least until April 1st. I love buying clothes there, I have way too much as it is & can certainly do without. Sometimes the way they display all the colors together makes everything look really good, then you get it home & wonder what you were thinking, its not that great of an item, but I never return anything. So I'm with you!!!

I'm joining the trigger store avoidance. I think it is our local dollar store too -- I buy junk we don't need but it's sooooo cheap. What's wrong with me. Ok no dollar store for me.

Hi, Cindylee,

I know what you mean! Those displays look so nice, all the items grouped together look so nice, but then you look at one on its own once you get home, and yuck....... Or sometimes the collections look great together, but then you get it home,a nd you can't mix it in with all the other clothes you have, so you end up spending more to get it to match SOMETHING......

I'm really fussy about what I buy, and if I'm not really sure, then I try to examine it and look for details that indicate if it is a quality product or noyt also ask myself if I'm just all caught up in the hype of the store of the moment, or am I really wanting/needing that thing that much? Of course, trying things on for me is a great way to come back to reality, too!

There are some stores I'm just happy to look in, but I don't buy anything because I just don't like their quality, or the style is off for me, but it's fun to just look, and it's "safer" for me because I don't really like the clothes that much.

Let's be fussy! That's MY money that THEY have to EARN!!!!!

I don't know if I can swear off "my store" yet. I'm just trying to avoid it right now...not easy....... I'm just going to try to keep busy and not think about it!

Hi, everyone. Well, I dont shop at brick and mortar much (I do everything online), but can you count the online shopping to add to the challenge? If so, I am swearing off Target and The Container Store. Love both, but it's adding up fast. WHiz.
