Ideas for a CHEAP anniversary

April is our 10th annivesary!! We were going to go away for the weekend, then the nght, now I have talked him into actually getting rid of the kids and staying at our own house for the night....but I don't know what we should do. We are going to go and take a (free) tour of a local winery that my husband really wants to do but that is as far as we have gotten.
I don't necessarily want to stay at home all night because I know I will want to do the dishes, laundry or whatever.......
Any suggestions are welcome

What kinds of activities do you like to do? Personally, I would work like crazy to have the house clean and do takeout and watch movies but other ideas would include-
Driving to a lake and planning your next 10 years. Take a picnic.
Bike ride
Going to a movie at the dollar theater (O.K. mine's 2.50 but you get the idea!)
DH & I love to browse the bookstore-this is not good if you're an impulse shopper but I love browsing for new names and stuff then when I'm at the library with kids in tow I can grab quickly (which is why I have 3 books I've already read this week).
DH & I used to love walking to the ice cream store maybe you could share a cone or find a coupon

Congratulations! I love the idea of an evening at home but whatever you do, don't do household stuff! Can you guys make a pact to leave the tv off and focus on each other? Hope so!
Here's some of my first thoughts (keeping in mind that I'm chronically single but maybe my hopeless romantic persepective will be an advantage. hehe)
1. Do you scrapbook? Are there lots of pictures or videos that you could spend some of the evening looking through and reminiscing? If they aren't in a photo album already, maybe you could do something that you pick out a representative set for each year of your marriage and make a quick little album out of them for yourselves. There are ways to either prep the album ahead so it won't occupy your whole evening or maybe you could just pick out the pics and then either you or you guys together could do the album in weeks following.
2. How's the master bedroom? Is it a cluttered up mess or is it a sanctuary for you both? If there is some room for improvement, can you maybe work towards your anniversary evening as a goal date to get things cleaned up. You are saving a lot of money not going away. Can you take a portion and do something long lasting to up the 'oolala' of your bedroom sanctuary? Then that night be sure to spend some quality time in there with DH.
3. Do you like to cook together? Maybe pick out a special recipe (especially if there is something from your dating days that would work) and spend the time together prepping your meal.
Hope you have a wonderful evening!
