Hi everyone!
Well a little while ago some of us agreed to avoid our trigger stores. Mine is Old Navy, and even though I felt that I needed to get some more clothes for substituting I agreed to the challenge. Well this weekend I unfortunatley found myself at an Old Navy Outlet with a friend who decided she needed to stop there. I steeled myself for it before I went in and told myself I would only spend 30 dollars, which is the amount I had in a gift card. I ended up with an armload of clothes, telling myself well I need some new khakis (which I do), a new sweater, etc. Well I was able to stop myself and I put the pants back (I had two pairs in my arm and neither of them fit properly but I was going to deal with it and buy them anyway) and I put back a few shirts. I ended up spending 37 dollars, and with my gift card that is only 7 dollars. I paid the balance with my debit card--no credit even though I have an old navy cc. I paid it off in December and don't want to use it again!

So I'm happy that I got some new tops to wear and now I know what size pants I wear so I can order from the website (when I have enough money saved to do so) but I only spent 7 dollars of my own money. Yay!

Congrats!! old navy is a tough one! i went in there 2x this week to see if any baby things were on clearance, and -while i didn't buy anything- i sure did want EVERYTHING! and it's hard not to buy something b/c their prices are actually pretty decent! and they have LOADS of cute stuff!

i must not have been around when you guys listed trigger stores. my trigger store used to be the clothing company that i worked for. i thought i needed everything in there! since i left the company though, i haven't bought ANYTHING from there, and i never plan to again! they're WAY too expensive! and the clothing is SO 80's now that i think about it.

my trigger store now is the lingerie store i work at part-time!! i have been working there for 2 months. so far, i have only managed to buy 3 things.. but i have to FIGHT the urge everytime i work! what i've been doing is just leaving my wallet in my car, and that seems to help.

Hi, Kara,

I was thinking about my ideas for the DEBT PATCH again just now as I read your post.....When I have a chance, I'll have to rewrite it....a project for later this week? Your comment about leaving your wallet where you can't get to it to spend was a good idea.

There are so many temptations out there, and that is the name of the game. We just have to fight hard to keep our money in our pockets....for our current bills......Advertising and the abundance of desirable stuff makes it so hard, but it can be done. I am still working on appreciating what and enjoying what I already have. It helps, and so does staying out of the stores, but that must be so hard when you work in one!

Best wishes, Littlesbigs

That is AWESOME! Especially that you put back the ill fitting pants... If it's something you need it's worth finding the right one! I count that as a victory!!

Since swearing off my trigger store I have actually MADE $$ at target...I want to go there so bad that I have been finding things the kids haven't worn yet(and obviously don't need) and returning them.I have made over $50!!! And at least I can smell the target air....
