I DID NOT SPEND.
I did tempt fate last night, but I emerged victorious........After SO was called out of our dinner (after he ate, so it was not a big deal but we were still visiting with family) because he is on call, I decided since I was in the area of a couple stores I like to take a quick look just TO LOOK. I almost bought one thing for $18, but I talked myself out of it, basically, what does a woman IN THE RED need with a RED PURSE?? It was a fabulous purse, but I'm fabulous without it................and I bought 6 purses last year I have not carried yet!!!!!!!!! YIKES!!! So I emerged victorious............
I bought a lot of food today, had to unexpectedly go out with a friend for breakfast.....she was having a panic attack over a minor thing (at least I think it is minor) She's another wealthy friend who could have everything, but has no peace......I think she looks very hard for drama/trauma...........well, I didn't appreciate being awakened on a Sunday morning at 6AM........My "friends" do not let me sleep late lately.....I will stop answering the phone before 9AM. Seriously. I don't get to sleep late for the next couple weekends....this was going to be my one and only for quite some time.......no rest for the weary. None.
Well, at least I have my own peace........and at least I did not spend and still had a good weekend.
I have to do some cooking now...part of a promise to my SO.........he loves chicken legs, and they are pretty cheap this week!
Have good weekend ending! Littlesbigs

Hello,
Congratulations on not spending! Every time you talk yourself out of a purchase, it gets a little easier to say no the next time.
> It was a fabulous purse, but I'm fabulous without it. And I bought 6 purses last year I have not carried yet!
Have you considered taking your 6 purses from last year and dropping them off at a consignment store? If they haven't been used, then they should fetch a fairly good price. You could use the extra money for a snowball payment.
I have two purses. One I carry all of the time, the other is an older backup just in case a strap breaks, etc. on my regular one. If I notice I have more than 2 purses, one goes out the door, either donated or brought to a consignment shop.

Hi, Lindsey!
Thanks for the idea, but I'm going to keep what I have....I'm just trying to not accumulate more! I do just LOVE clothes and fashion, and I am attached to what I have....I tend to keep what I have until I wear it out or ruin it. Fortunately, a lot of what I bought was under $10, and I don't think it would be worth selling.
I'm glad I'm not at a point where I need to consider selling personal things to gain money to pay the bills..... but if it is sensible to join the group tag sale coming up where I live, I do have items I've been clearing out of the house (tagged for charity) as part of the organization project that I could sell.
As far as making new purchases, I am getting fussier when I do have to buy something, but I am finding that I'm on a better path now, and staying on the path and experiencing this part of the debt journey where I'm avoiding some active shopping is satisfying. I am also finding some other places my money has to go, so staying on budget and on plan is very important. It's all this growing and learning that I am finding very interesting.
Best wishes, Littlesbigs
Hello,
I understand that you love clothes, purses, fashionable items. I just noticed your note about having 6 purses that you haven't used, which means you aren't like to "wear it out or ruin it" and thought maybe you aren't "attached" to the ones you don't use.
I donate and sell clothing and other items that are either worn out, too small, or don't fit me anymore. If I like it, use it often, and it's in good condition, it stays! Last year, I donated 25 dresses from a closet that was so stuffed I couldn't hang clean clothes in there without shoving things aside. I use ItsDeductible to estimate the value of donated items. It came out to about $900 deduction off our taxes for 2005, just from donated clothes.
A friend was cleaning out her garage and came across several boxes full of clothes that don't fit her anymore. Since they were my size, she offered them to me for free. I tried them on, picked out the ones that I liked and fit nicely, then donated the rest to a local charity (AADD.org).
