Where they move your change from using your debit card into a savings account?

The lady is going "I just put away .18" and the small amounts with the guy doing a sarcastic "ooohhh"

I thought the same thing, too!

Only thing to me, however, is it's still making people think they can "save" by spending.....

I always find myself thinking are you kidding? I spend 200 a month on groceries-no way would I not feel that coming out of checking. It's not there! Plus to get to 200 each purchase couldn't have more than a 1.00 in change right? So, they had over 200 shopping transactions in a month? No way....I'm an AC Nielson household and we usually have 4-5 shopping transactions on a big week and 1-2 on a slow week. At most that would be 20 in a month. Let's say we ate out every week (HA) that would still be 24 transactions. Okay I might be overthinking this one.....

We're enrolled in that program, and they do match your savings 100% for the first three months.

We enrolled in that program when they first started it and in the first month we'd moved over $75 (including their match). I certainly don't try to use my card any more just to get the "change", but it is nice to see the savings balance creep up without much effort. For us it was simple- we were already customers, already needed to round our purchases for this purpose, and already use our debit card for most purchases (gas!). They just made it easier by moving our money for us.

We thought about doing but then you also have to consider that you will have to pay taxes on the amount they match too.... I just don't think it would be worth it for us.

Now! I do save change and my home from cash purchases. And on payday I transfer the balance of what was left in my account before the deposit into savings. That really adds up! :)
