Friday "Fling Five Things"...
| Fri, 03-17-2006 - 11:33am |
Here's a Friday challenge for folks that I will actually extend into the weekend - so it's more of a Friday-Saturday-Sunday challenge.
I challenge each of us to look around the house and find 5 things that

Great idea! Mind if I use this on my Adults with AD/HD board? We already try to do a weekly clutter challenge so this is perfect. LOL.
I was already planning on checking my closets this weekend. It's jammed so much I can barely slide my hangers anymore (it's a small closet and DF and I unfortunately share), and at least half of it never gets worn. Some of it has got to go! I also have tons of wedding information that I don't need anymore because I've finished so much stuff now. Let's not forget all the crap sitting on the BOTTOM of my closet... and God only knows what's hiding in the back of my kitchen cupboards... or my bathroom cabinet....

ROFLMBO! I only wish it was that difficult to find something to get rid of in my house! LOL
I just put a big bin of recycling out this morning that I was feeling very proud of because I decluttered almost all of it out of my office this week. :) I will take your challenge. One thing I know I will do is post the old scanner I have to FreeCycle and see if I can get that on its way out the door. I am also going to work on those illusive eBay lots I've been prattling on about so although they won't be gone this weekend, they'll be on their way. :) I will also be continuing the declutter project in the office but it is going to be more a sorting than disposing exercise for the next couple of weeks.
Thanks for the challenge. I'm sure I can find 5 to do and will let you know!

I'm already on my way...I cleaned out the fridge this morning after I broke an egg in it. So many salad dressings and other condiments.
I'm working on my husbands home office now. I started with the soon to be ex partner's business cards! It's becoming quite therapeutic.
Good luck to everyone. Samey
Ooohhhh!!!!

This is definitely something I can do....!!!!
I have now flung 2 old bags of noodles, one old silk t-shirt I loved but can't wear anymore, and 2 or 3 grocery store magazines(recpies, but nothing I would ever make)...it is a start....Having fun with trying to get organized this morning.....will go out later....thought I'd nap, but this is becoming fun!
I found a couple of things I forgot about or can really use now, and I found some stuff really out of place in the house like: a bra in the kitchen, a car snowbrush in the bedroom, a bowl full of purse contents(tweezers, receipts, business cards...but when did I put them in this bowl??) in the kitchen......
I also will make progress, but it won't look like it! Yikes, Littlesbigs
Well, I am going to have to extend this into Monday for me. That's the day that I am off, but my kids are in day care for 1/2 day, so I can get some things done! I am in the process of handing down my daughter's clothing to DH's friend with an infant, and Monday will give me some time to fill up a couple more boxes. Hopefully, DH will deliver the stuff on Thursday. We are both off for Spring Break the following week, but the kids are going to day care 1/2 days. The plan is to move my sewing supplies into the area formerly occupied by umpteen boxes of girl baby clothes. Then our third bedroom can actually become a bedroom again; for guests now and for a kid later. I have 2 year old girl/boy twins who currently share a room, but that won't last forever!
Thanks for the incentive for some spring cleaning!

This is a good challenge, but hard for me because I am constantly throwing things on the yard sale pile...they are not technically gone or out of my way, so I don't think I can count them yet! But here's what I WAS flinging this weekend:
1) A large amaryllis plant that was given to me AFTER it flowered for the holidays (by a person who didn't want to throw it out!!). I set it in the yard in case I want to plant the bulb later, or at least compost it...
2) A pot of paperwhites that was blooming nicely but had a horrible floral stink which was overpowering the house (also set outside)...
3) Pajama bottoms with a large hole in the (ahem) "seat", which was beyond repair. I only dust with old socks, and couldn't think of another use for the pj's, so they went into the trash.
4) An (expensive) lipgloss that never suited me also went into the trash.
5) I sold a cake stand on ebay today that I actually bought someone else for xmas, but decided not to give to them because it would just clutter their house ('ungifting' vs 'regifting', LOL). Does that count? It's technically 'here' until I ship it.
