Homeschooling on a budget??

I know there are a couple of homeschoolers out there. I have seen you post before but now want your advice on it.
I have 3 girls who will be K,1 &2nd next year. What is the best way to go about HS in a reasonable way? My SIL HS in an UNreasonable way and I can't/won't even go down that road.
Thanks!

Good question! :)
I've homeschooled an unreasonable way, which we can no longer afford. :P I think the best way to do it, is to let the girls do all the same History/Science/Art and misc subjects together then find a math, phonics and literature program that you can pass down to the next child. The "What Your _______ should know" series is a good place to get started. It's pretty easy to find used curriculum and books, there are several yahoo groups that are specifically for buying and selling used homeschool books. A good way to keep the cost down is to sale books that you are no longer using or will no longer need so you can buy your next set of books. It's really helpful to have a good library and local homeschool group.
I don't know if this is an option for you in your state but we have online charter schools that the public school pays for but you school at home. The biggest problem that people have with that is that you have to turn in work regularly and track how much school you do. For some it's not a big deal but for others it's a big pain to have someone looking over your shoulder to see how your doing.
If you have any more questions just ask. :)

Hey there!
I think the least expensive way would be to start at your library. I did this for Kindergarten with my son. I checked out the book "What your Kindergartener should Know", and every other book about Kindergarten skills. Then, I went to Walmart and bought their inexpensive workbooks on every subject available for his grade. Then, I bought some cheap art supplies from the dollar store, and we were set. This might be the way to go for you also since you're doing multiple grades at once.

I found a couple boards you can check out for used materials:
