Anyone up for a challenge? $1 bills

I know a long time ago we did this challenge and since I've actually forced myself to do it again, I thought it might be fun to do for April.

It's saving your $1 bills just like you would save change in a change jar but instead of change it's singles.

I think that's a great idea! I can't participate because I only have $10 a week spending money (and I'm saving $5 of that each week in a rainy day stash) but I will definitely cheer everyone else on!! And I'll keep saving my coin-change, at least. Maybe one day when dh gets a full-time job again we can do the dollar bill thing, too! :-)

I'm up for it! I wait tables, so I always have tons of $1's!!! But I need to cash most of them in to pay bills and such! I will definately keep a few each shift and make change from the store. We should keep track of how much we are all saving! Good idea! Nicki

Hi Everyone,
This is an amazing idea. I must say, being Canadian I tend to already do this because of all the loonies ($1) and twoonies ($2) that I get. It easy to throw change in a jar and not realize you may be putting $4.00 away at a time!!!

Good Luck!

Becky

I think another poster may have mentioned it, but it's not really different for us except we get $1 & $2 in a coin format as opposed to a bill...loonies and toonies :)

So I'm definitely in, since I already try to save much of them when I break a bill.

Hi, Becky. I'm in. I've got the spare-change thing set up in a large empty bottled water container. I thought, well, some of the coins are dirty (lint, soap, cat hair, etc.), so I'll just wash them in the sink to get the residue off. Bad idea. One of the coins got into the disposal and jammed it. So much for "clean money" or "money down the drain" LOL. DH fixed it though. Must go, though--laundry, cleaning beckons. Great idea. Whiz.

I like the challenge!! Since it's been a "challenge" NOT using the debit card, maybe we'll succeed at BOTH challenges!!! Count me in.

Hello,

I'm up for the challenge. Currently, I have only 2 dollars in my purse, along with some change. I guess it's time to pull out some more cash from the food budget. I checked my DH's wallet and he has 5 dollars, all in singles. Our change jar has a few singles thrown in. I'm sure that if I take the singles out of DH's wallet, I'll need to replace them with the "blow" money from the budget, or he'll get grouchy. =)

So, do we toss the singles into the change jar (or envelope) daily? I'm thinking as often as we have some to throw in. =)

Sincerely,
Lindsey Schocke

I'm definitely up for this! :-D Especially since I'm using only cash nowadays. This sounds like fun! :-D I think I'll save my $1's for awhile and maybe use them for an early holiday savings plan. :-D A "Christmas Club" of $1.00 bills. :-D

Just throw them in the envelope whenever you have them.
