I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who responded to my post about splurging on a bathing suit! I just wanted to let you know that I was able to salvage the rest of the month!!! I started doing little things like not putting my laundry in the dryer (saved $2.00 every dry ---> yes its wildly over priced), taking the bus to the grocery store at the other end of the city (saved a good $10-15 a week - the one that I went to has a monopoly on the students and were charging outrageous prices . . .their cheapest no name bread was over $2.00!!!) and other little changes and I actually came in UNDER budget for the month!!!

Now I am pretty excited because I can rework the budget next month and trim the grocery budget among other things!!

In addition, I start my work term next month, and I am pretty sure I get paid (its not a guarentee, but all my classmates have arranged decent hourly wages). I talk to my preceptor on Wednesday and we are going to finalize plans.

I think April will be a great month ladies!!!

Hello Becky,

Those "little" changes are what eventually helps you pay off debt. In our case, we cancelled a cable account, closed a few subscription services, and made a few behavior changes that have paid off in the long run. I even replaced all of our lightbulbs with compact flourescents to save money on the electric bill!

Have you ever looked at the www.grocerygame.com site? It might help you save some money on groceries. I wish I had started using a coupon service like this much earliler. What I do is select the coupons for the products I *already* use, then when I head into the grocery store, I bring a list of items I'm expecting to buy. I usually walk out with savings of $8-$10 or more, especially since I make myself put away those impulse items. =)

Sincerely,
Lindsey Schocke
