here am I? I can see how giving up smoking can be so so difficult. I've been trying to kick my 3-4 (ok sometimes 5 cans/day if I don't think dh will catch me) habit. I was thinking how much I could possibly save by not buying this. And yes, I am very guilty of running to the grocery store just for pepsi but of course, leaving w/ $60 worth of crap I didn't need. Not only that but I was balancing the checkbook and was at the grocery store 4 times this week w/ $60 here, $40 there, and then $140 for the big grocery shop. I get really mad about how much they charge for this when it is on sale nonetheless! $7 for a 24 pk.? I really don't consider that much of a sale. But I buy anyway. Sorry for rambling, I'm wound up--on my fourth can. It's cherry. I guess this is sorta a money related topic. ;)

I hear ya sweetjumps! Only my vice is diet coke! I buy the 2L bottles when on sale, but they go flat so fast and are not so portable as the cans.

I'm guilty also of running into the grocery store, "just for lettuce and milk", but I never leave without several bags.

Oh, well, let's congratulate ourselves that we're not busting the budget on beer!

From one addict to another - 2L bottles are cheaper! One 2L bottle equals about 5.5 cans. Bottles are $1.23 each at Walmarts here in Canada, so they're probably even cheaper in the US. Four bottles ALMOST equal a 24-pack of cans, and end up costing a couple of dollars less. If you can find the bottles on sale for less you are doing even better.

But think about it this way - even $7 for a 24-pack is better than paying $1 PER CAN at a vending machine, which I am still very guilty of doing. :/

It's Coke with me. I've gotten down to one a day which I have with lunch usually and I gave it up for a while after the New Year but it didn't last. I think I would have to quit buying it completely and my DH (with a 4-5 can a day habit) isn't going to let that happen. If I go for #2 that means it's been a long day and I do a Diet Coke. Today is a 2 can day LOL

Edited to add my 2 favorite coke moments of all time--

#1-I had my DD in 1999 and caffeine was a huge pregnancy no-no so I gave up all caffeinated drinks. I had her at 8 p.m. and it was about 11 when I made it to the room. Kitchens were closed for the night-the nurse rustled up a turkey sandwich, chips and a Coke. I savored every sip.

#2-Caffeine was no longer quite so hated during pregnancy #2 and the hospital had longer kitchen hours so I thought I was set. Oops-gestational diabetes meant the end of Coke for me. I had Ian around 2 in the morning and it was after 4 before I made it to my room-guess what? Kitchens were closed for the night-the nurse rustled up a turkey sandwich, chips and a Coke. Again, I loved it. I did tell myself I could give it back up again at that point and since I had made it through the last 5 months of pregnancy without chocolate, sugar, etc. I could surely give those up but did not succeed.

Hi, My name is Nicki and I am a Pepsiholic...... you are so not alone!!
I go through a 2 liter every 2 days by myself. I drink regular Pepsi~ I crave that "burn" from it when I wake up!!! Luckily, I live by a gas station that carries it for $1.11 so I am not tempted to buy anything else. My husband teases me and says "Are you happy you have your baby now?!!" as I walk in with my 2 liter. Besides spending a ton of money on it, my figure is suffering!!

I just had to smile at your delivery-coke moments. I gave up RC for my pregnancy, and the first thing I had after my twins were born was a 20 oz bottle of RC and Cadbury caramel eggs (my kids were born 6 weeks before Easter). It is still a favorite snack this time of year!

Here's to the small vices. May they stay small and keep us sane!

Would you believe I could tell the exact same story? And not once but 3 times? During my 1st pregnancy I didn't drink anything caffeinated--I'd drink Sprite if I had a pop. During my 2nd pg. I didn't drink any coke, pepsi, etc. until after the first 3 months, then only once in a blue moon. The third times the charm because I only drank it very very sparingly during the first trimester but then I relaxed a little and drank a little more. Of course after every pregnancy/delivery the habit came back w/ vengenace. I credit the problem to the fact that I don't like coffee so in the morning I had to have caffeine to make it through the day when the baby didn't make it through the night. Broken sleep is the worst for me. My 2nd baby was a blur right after he was born since I had no sleep at all and lived on Coke--gee wonder how I got fat! I did switch to diet though. BTW--Coke is my preference too but since I switched to diet I prefer the diet cherry pepsi although diet cherry coke is just as good when it's on sale. Actually I really don't discriminate--I'll drink whatever is cheapest amongst the two brand names of course. I did manage alot of Sweepes dry grape gingerale during my preganancies and Squirt (which for me helped w/ the morning sickness). Sorry it got so long but yes, the nurses got me my Coke fix shortly after going into my room--but for me it was a ham sandwich.

HI Nicki. ;)

You know it's the same story all around for us "addicts". I myself can polish off a 2liter in about two days. I prefer to buy the cans in order to keep my 'problem' from my dh. He knows but he also teases me. I always get the "I see you had 4 today" thing from him. I also have to have it in the morning. I'm so hearin ya.

Hi, SJ--Well, DH is the diet coke addict. Cans in the fridge. Cans on the counter. Me? I am trying to stay away from the juices, as it causes me to gain weight. Ah, the caffeine? Well, I'm a tea fan. Any tea. Bottled. Brewed. Iced. Etc. Coffee? No way! Unless, occasional Starbucks. AM trying to cut down on that. Does it make you feel jittery (or sluggish) if you dont have it? WHiz.

Yes, but mostly I get a headache. Then I feel fine then I'm down again so I drink some more. It's a bad cycle and definately an addiction. I'm trying to cut down and eventually stop it all together.
