Any weekend Easter plans?
| Tue, 04-11-2006 - 8:58pm |
Hi, all. For those of you who celebrate Easter and Passover, do you have any plans? Have you watched your spending? DH and I decided that we would just send the parents flowers. My SIL is pregnant(!) so that would make 8 nieces and nephews, so we decided to keep it simple. Have resisted chocolate tempations (weight creeping up), and we're just going to cook or go out this weekend. No chocolate eggs for me :) Whiz.

This Easter bunny still has to go shopping!

We're staying at our house in PA. I bought the kids their Easter baskets and clothes. We're probably go out to eat on Easter day. Trying not to spend too much money.

We're heading to Florida on Friday morning for a karate tournament that my son is competing in, so we'll be spending the whole weekend there. We are definitely sticking to a budget, though. We have a list of hotels that give a special rate to competitor's families, and we settled on a beach-front Mom-n-Pop owned motel that was turned into a resort, complete with lots of amenities, including it's own arcade (my son will LOVE this). Our room is only $59 per night, and it includes a full kitchen so we will save money by making most of our own food. I planned out our menus for the whole weekend, including stopping for a picnic at a rest-stop on the way down and the way back, and our meals will cost us only $54 total for six meals. That's $9 per meal or $3 per person/per meal. Not bad!! Much much cheaper than eating out in a restaurant. Healthier too, I'm sure. :-D
I figure we'll spend lots of money on gas, though. LOL!

I'll be working at the restaurant on Easter from 11-2:30. Not too bad, but would rather be at home! I'll then be rushed to both my and dh's parents homes. I'm not buying the expensive flowers this year for them, I picked up a cute garden decoration for my mom for $3 at Ollies (LOVE that store!!)and will probably get some good chocolate for the dads. Not sure about dh's mom yet. I sent my little nephew a goodie box in the mail and it cost me $10 to ship!! I don't think the contents were even worth $10~ because I picked up his basket and some toys after Easter last year at 75% off. And 2 books from Ollies for $4. I will just mail him a gift card for his birthday next month!
Happy Easter everyone! Nicki
