FIT refund timing ?

After much (now regrettable) procrastination, I mailed in my tax return on April 11. I ended up with a much larger refund than I had anticipated.

Anybody have any idea of when I might expect my refund to hit my account? I opted for direct deposit instead of a paper check.

I have plans to use this money as debt reduction and bulk up the savings account plus buy two much needed small pieces of furniture. Our possession order terms have recently changed and I get all the deductions/credits for the kids and filing as Head of Household saved me a bundle in taxes. I've already changed my W-4 for 2006, so I've effectively created a "raise" for myself.

Yippee!!

Now I'm tapping my foot in anticipation like a 6 year old!!

I have some friends that mailed theirs in mid march. It took 4 weeks to get it back. You can go to www.irs.gov and on the lower left side it says "where is my refund" you can track it there. Once they have it and it is approved they will put a date you should expect it to hit your account by. My friend and I both found that we got ours 2 weeks earlier than the site said. They only do deposits on Fridays....

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the info. I didn't know it was possible to track it.
