pain in the neck

I mean literally here. I woke up one morning in Febuary like I slept wrong, only it didn't go away after a day or two. I saw my doctor because in the period of a week I was in tears twice and it wasn't getting better, so he gave me some muscle relaxer and didn't do much else. After trying it his way for a couple of weeks with only mild relief I saw a specialist. He gave me additional supply of the muscle relaxer and said take it 3x a day if I needed it unlike my primary that said I couldn't take it at work or if I was driving so I took it maybe once or twice a day, while working against dr. orders, but I wasn't driving or operating heavy machinery only typing on a computer. The specialist also gave me a anti-inflamatory so I didn't have to take 6 Aleve everyday.
So the specialist puts me on physical therapy for 3 weeks and I was getting better. Today was my follow up and I was planning on telling him I felt almost 95% better, but then I got rear-ended this a.m. on the way to work and I am feeling as bad as I did weeks ago. What a hassle, he says I will feel worse tomorrow...so I'm prepared not to work or work from home a little if I feel bad tomorrow. Just waiting to see how much it costs me this time. Last two months have been over $200 in copays and prescriptions I hadn't planned on, now I'm not sure what applies in the instance of an auto accident. Also, I was so shook up this morning that I didn't get all the other drivers information and haven't gotten a call back from her. I was OK when the accident happened, but knew my neck would probably hurt later and it did after about 15 minutes. The stupid lady that hit me didn't even stop 3 minutes to exchange info see if I was really OK. I was running on adreniline and supressed profanities when that wore off I was in pain. I googled her phone number and was able to get an addess which I reported to my insurance.
ARGGHH What a way to start the week off.

Hi, Pam. I can empathize with the medical expenses (took 8 months on one bill, but it finally was paid!). Hope x-rays are ok. Have you tried those wrap-around fabric things filled with rice or beads that can be heated (I think Walmart or the local drug store has them). THey feel soooo soothing, some have herbs in them, and you can mold them to your neck while watching TV, etc. Am sending you a get-well hug, and hope you feel better fast. Fondly, Whiz.

Thanks for the support everyone. Feeling crummy today, but SO made me breakfast so I got to take my meds this a.m.,often I don't eat breakfast at home and it's mid morning before I eat and can take my anti-inflamatory. Talked to my insurance and it will pick up 80% of my medical. SO also picked up a heating pad for me so that helped tonight, I'll take it with me tomorrow and use it during the day and I also have physical therapy and will see how that goes.

Sorry about your pain.... I've been there with my back, had 2 herniated disks which caused sciatica (stabbing pains down my leg)~ it was torturous! I popped advil all day! Thank goodness for spinal steroid injections- I've been good for over a year now!

I was rear ended once when I was 8 months pregnant and it's scary. I did not have full tort at the time, so I could not get reimbursed for the days of work I had to miss. The other driver's insurance did cover all of my medical expenses and damage to my car.

Hugs to you! Nicki
