The gas at local station just went up 3 more cents today. Now it is 2.89 for regular. My DD lives in MI and it was 2.97

We live near Dallas and at most stations low grade gas is 2.95. I found one Racetrac that had it it for 2.89. Half at tank in my little Kia was $21. When I bought it in Nov '04 $26 would get me a FULL tank. OUCH!!!! DH and I were talking about the increase and what our "enough is enough" limit will be. Somewhere around 3.50-4.00 per gallon. It won't be feasible to have 2 cars anymore. It will definately change our living arrangements too.

I told DH that anything below $3/gallon we can deal with, but once it hits $3 - we are making some drastic changes!

Gas is 2.89 here in North Georgia. :-/

I just can't believe the cost!! It is getting insane. We topped out at 3.08 here the other day....so far. We live in the very far south Chicago burbs. We have already canned a driving vacation in June and it's not looking promising for another one. We are considering taking Amtrak somewhere because they have one adult fare gets 2 free kids so it is "pretty" reasonable and includes your food. We think it will be fun for the kids too.
Funny how as prices go up we are all thinking outside the box..hubby is putting the baby seat on my bike this weekend and the kids and I are going to start riding to school. That means 3 rides a day but if you could see you me you would know it won't kill me;=)

I hear you. I live on the Kansas Missouri border. Gas on the Kansas side was $2.89/gallon yesterday and $2.83/gallon in Missouri. Where will it all end? And, how are we supposed to make ends meet if we are having to pay this much for gas?

I agree Kellie. Also, along with the higher gas prices, costs for food and other products that we all need will be going up again.
We have one driving trip planned for mid-May, and it will likely take four fill-ups to complete the trip. A tank and a half going up, a tank and a half going back, and another tankful at our destination to drive between our parents' homes. We will definitely be spending less money once we get to their homes. We'll just have to sit and talk instead. LOL! :-D

I am in the near south suburbs of Chicago and we are right at about $3.00 per gallon. I drive about 25 miles each way to and from work, so this is going to put a strain on things if the price goes up much higher. It will be very interesting to see what the major oil companies release as their first quarter profits.
