Somehow DH got the tape out of the VCR!
Don't count on being able to buy a new VCR ever again anyway - sadly they aren't making them anymore. Ours kicked the bucket a few months ago, and we seriously found ONE at Best Buy, after driving all over hell's half acres, and it was still $79. The guy at the store said this was going to be the last model - they are all turning over to DVD/VCR combos now. He even said that in a couple more years, even those will be gone since they are now coming out with DVD recorders, and even TIVO-like devices that will tape shows from your TV and store them in a hard-drive - no disc or tape necessary.
*sigh* - technology. It's supposed to make things easier, but all it does is fuel consumerism. We have over 200 tapes that we will never be able to watch again once THIS VCR goes kaput.

I saw Target had a VCR/DVD combo for $89, I think.
Check out garage sales on the weekends. I would think that it would be pretty easy to find one that still works great just because people are switching over to DVD's so much.
Here is a link to a very detailed review of several vaccuum brands including Dyson:

Thanks Heather!
After some research, the Dyson doesn't look so great.
VHS is on its way out like the cassette tape and the eight-track tape and the LP. That doesn't mean you can't find VCRs, though. In fact, they'll be getting cheaper and cheaper, but you'll probably mostly have to buy them used or through a wholesaler on ebay or some place like that. I bought a portable 8-track player for my grandpa about five years ago through ebay for $25. There were cheaper models, but this one was really nice. You can still find record players and good records, too, if you look around. I think cassettes and videos are going to do the same thing.
If you have tons of vhs tapes, they can be burned to DVD, and it might be worth it, especially since vhs has a limited shelf life anyway, whereas a DVD can last nearly forever if properly cared for. There are a variety of ways to do this, involving different types of technologies. I'm not techno-savvy, so I can't really offer advice on the best way, but it might be worth looking into.
Or, you can stick with vhs and look for cheap used or overstocked models.
Glad you got yours fixed for now, though. I thought you were going to say that you were mad because an episode of Bob showed him charging the cost of a repair or something, and so you didn't like the message of the show! LOL Hope your vacuum situation works out well too.
Blessings,
Heather
