Digging my way out . . .

Hi Ladies . . . I am back from my weeklong trip back home!! I have to start digging through posts to get caught up.

Aside from FAR to much eating (think THREE Easter dinners, all of which had European Gramma's telling me to "eat honey eat, you have no meat on you") it was a great time . . . BUT a mess financially!!!

1- Had a meeting with a VP at one of our sister companies for an un-paid project that I need to do to finish my course. This is a very formal company and I had nothing to wear (I have always been business casual). My Dad bought me the powersuit, but I had to buy the shoes. Oh and did I mention that I can only buy leather shoes (on the advice of my DR)because the fake stuff cuts my feet and I have such bad circulation in my feet that cuts from last summer still haven't healed properly!

2- Was going to bring back my work clothes for my summer job which starts in a week, and realized they are all either too small or really ratty (I bought the cheap stuff when I first started working becuase I couldn't afford better, and after a years worth of wear and tear, they are ready to fall apart). So I had to buy a few more things, but I just got the bare necessitites.

3- Lunch or dinner out everyday with friends I haven't seen in months. Good times, but my wallet hurt!

4- Gas for the car!!! Enough said. (I forget how much this hurts since I don't drive out here!!)

5- Taxi to and from the airport

I was hoping that my tax return would go to savings, but unfortunately, after I pay my summer tuition and my rent for May, it will JUST cover the amount that I have spent. That really hurts.

On the bright side, one of the girls at work is going on vacation the first week of May, and they need me to fill in for her which means 60 hours on my next pay check instead of 20!! Yay!!! The timing kind of sucks though cause I start my summer job that week, but I figure on week with 90 hours could put me right back on track!!!

I think this week is going to be a great week for all of us ladies! Keep your heads up!

Wow, Bex,

Sounds like you had a great trip back home! A little tough on the pocketbook, yes, but you were able to catch up with old friends and spend time with family, which is wonderful. It sounds like you don't get a chance to do those things that often, so it's likely you won't have to spend this much money again for a while. Those 90 hours of work that you have coming up sounds like a very heavy workload, but for a week, I'm sure you can do it. Just keep focused on your debt, and try to find a way to reward yourself each evening when you get home. Whether it be watching a special show/movie on TV with some popcorn, or giving yourself an at-home manicure/pedicure, or maybe just soaking in a tub for awhile to de-stress. There are many low-cost ways to reward yourself for working so hard at getting your debt level down, and I'm sure you'll find a few that you'd really enjoy. :-D
