Single gal finally getting 2nd job

For months now, I've said that I was going to enjoy my summer and date and be happy, since my last summer was spent dealing with the financial ramifications of recently separating from my husband, downsizing into a 1 BR crackerjack box apartment, dealing with a crappy car and repairs, etc.

Well, I'm at the point where I guess that's not going to be a reality this summer, either. My crappy car just gave out, so I had to buy a new one, and now I have a $300/mth car payment, which barely leaves $300 a month for gas/groceries/extras, and I'm just not comfortable with that.

So I finally decided to go ahead and get a part time second job, grit my teeth and bear it. If I want to get anywhere, I have to do it with more money, and since it's obvious that Prince Charming isn't going to drop out of the sky and help me out, this is my only option.

It just really sucks that I'm going to spend my entire summer shuttling between one cubie-with-no-windows job to another...and that it's not going to leave me any time to date...and I'm so flippin' LONELY already that I can't stand it...

{{{CJ}}}} I'm so sorry to hear you are feeling lonely and you aren't going to be able to do what you'd really like to do this summer. I hope that time tells you that it's all happened for a wonderful reason. I'm a single gal too and I know how that lonely thing goes. Hang in there!

When I was a single mother, I went to college full time and worked part time as a cocktail waitress at a comedy club.

Hi! I am sorry you are sad , and you need another job. I have been there!!!

When I was single and poor (I am not single anymore.. but still basically poor ;0 ) I started out getting seasonal second jobs, for christmas and stuff. Then I decided I wanted to buy a house, so I stuck with my second job to pay off some cc bills until I had enough money to do so. It wasn't so bad. My first "2nd" job was at JoAnn's Ect. (it's a craft store) I love crafts and really liked the job--even though it sucks having to work 60 hours a week. My second "2nd" job was at victoria's secret! that was great! I have a great time, and got a really really good discount!

I was so busy during those two years.. I didn't spend a whole lot of money, because I really didn't have time to. It ended up working out really well. I met friends I never would have met, and experienced new things.. so I am SURE that it will work out for you too! The key is to find a second job that is FUN. That is definitely the key!

Good Luck! I know you can do it!! and you will feel empowered that you are doing it on your own. You don't need anyone else to take care of you. yoU CAN do it on your own!!
