Hi! So this is how the car repair disaster turned out:
The tow truck guy was able to tell right away that my serpentine belt had snapped, so we are very happy that I was near home, in my SO's apartment parking lot when the car trouble presented itself. I could have had a MUCH WORSE problem if I was on the road going into work at the ungodly hour on a Sunday and this happened.
The repair for the belt would have been about $200, so I was actually happy that it was that inexpensive because I could have recovered from that very quickly and resumed the happy dance I ended after paying of a new credit card.......BUT......................
Then THAT CALL comes....the one after the garage inspects the rest of the car...........and so a few other repairs had to be made, and I know I needed new tires.......so now the bill is $700..............................ugh..........UGH........ugggggghhhhhhhhhhh.............
Yup. $700. I feel like I am back to square one. I had made some progress on this debt journey, and now I feel like I am starting all over again. I guess I am. UGH!!!!! I was soooooo happy when I was thinking it's be $200.............. This was paid with a credit card with a 0% interest for 6 months, so I am all calculated now to pay it in 6 months which should be okay, but it would have been great to use this money to pay down the rest of the old debt.
Well, these are the ups and downs of the debt journey for me....I guess this is what you would call "LIFE"...............or bad luck........Yesterday was full of ups and downs.
Work turned out okay, too. No one seemed upset about me missing the Sunday workday. So far no one has said anything about taking a laptop computer.....Whew! The team did the rest of my work, and it seems to all go okay.
I just hope the rest of the week goes MUCH LESS EXPENSIVELY.
I went to a bookstore yesterday, and I saw a mini-magazine that was about getting out of debt. I looked thru it quickly, but for those of us on this board, it was full of advice we have traded over and over, and so it didn't contain anything I'd pay the $3.99 for!
I feel SO BROKE, SO BROKE, SO BROKE.......................Back at square one.
SQUARE ONE. AGAIN. Again.......................
I sure hate it when I am working so hard, and I just can't seem to get that total debt amount DOWN. At least not down enough long enough.
UGH!!!!
I am hoping tomorrow will be better..........or at least CHEAPER.
Let's see what happens.

Hello,
I know it's difficult to handle those unexpected car repairs. This is something that an emergency fund would really help with. I keep $1000 in a savings account and replenish it with snowballs until it's full again after using it. We did recently have a $400 car repair. Having that emergency fund available meant I didn't have to charge the repair or incur any additional debt. The snowball went to fill up the emergency fund back to $1000 and then I put the rest on debt again.
Another poster mentioned budgeting for car repairs and unexpected problems. I have an Inc

Hi, folks! Thank you for your well wishes....Yes, I wish I had an emergency fund to dip into for this....I had one and had just spent it, then this rolls along just as I am trying to replenish it! Oh, well...........
Yes, everything I authorized to do needed to be done. As much as I wish the bill wasn't so high, I didn't want to take a risk on the other repairs and my safety. I can't remember the last time I bought tires, so it was time!
I have a plan to pay this off, and that makes me feel more in control of the situation. I just hope that everything else that affects me financially will go along with "the program!" Fat chance, you know............but, I think I am at a good starting point........
Off now to write another entry for today!
