Seriously annoyed by pop-ups

The new pop-ups on ivillage are SERIOUSLY annoying. They pop up every single time I click through to a new page (so, every time I read a new message), and I either have to click to shut them each time or I end up with dozens of new windows open in my task bar.
Normally, I browse a bit after posting on the board, but it's not worth all the pop-ups. In fact, if I weren't so attached to all you fabulous folks here, I would probably go somewhere else for my boards, too.
Oh, and in hopes it would stop popping up if I just answered the darn survey, I clicked through to the "five-minute" survey. It takes way more than five minutes, which is thoroughly irritating. It's taking so long, I haven't even finished it yet. I'll let ya'll know if it stops the stupid pop-ups.
I know I can get a pop-up blocker (actually, firefox has one already), but then I find there are certain sites where certain functions don't work.
I don't mind advertising--I know that's how sites like this are supported. I even read them and click through if it looks interesting. But the pop-ups are just freakin' annoying.
Maybe I'm just hormonal. Anyone else seriously annoyed by the new pop-ups?

LOL, I totally Agree!!!!!
I answered the "five minute" survey too. It took closer to 10, but okay fine. Not to mention I HAD to answer some questions which didn't apply (otherwise I got the error message). So then I go back to the board and the stupid survey keeps popping up!! I already answered it!!!!!!!!
My other pick pet peeve is the advertising that has music or noise. I like to listen to CD's on the computer when I am working, not commercials. They play right over my music. It drives me nuts!!!
Okay, enough ranting for now,

my problem is I can't post a new discussion.

YIKES!!!
There isn't much I can help with on the pop-ups (I have pop-up blocker but I STILL get the annoying survey ad - and yes I took the survey hoping it would go away!).
HOWEVER....not being able to start a new discussion is another problem...have you contacted tech support on it?
If not, let me know and I will try to point you in the right direction so we can hopefully get you posting again.

Hey Becky,
The annoying pop-up I'm talking about is not the survey ad that slides across the screen--that one's pretty annoying, but this is a new one today (or yesterday) that is a bona-fide pop-up, and it's beyond annoying. It actually opens a new window which pops up in front of any window I have open (so, for instance, if I click a link on ivillage and then immediately switch over to my email inbox, the pop-up will pop in front of my email program). It will open an infinite number of times and I have to close it every single time, or sometimes I let it keep opening and then close dozens of them one after the other. The ad pops up EVERY SINGLE TIME I click a link inside ivillage--when reading messages, browsing the site, posting messages, etc. This message will earn me five new pop-up windows to close--one for opening your message, one for hitting "reply," one for hitting "preview," one for hitting "post," and one for clicking to get back to the main message board.
I got an email from ivillage customer service saying that they do not use pop-ups for external ads, only for their internal ads, and that they have something that's supposed to control the frequency of the pop-ups if my computer accepts cookies (which it does!). I guess they're presuming it's my fault because of the way my computer is set up (?).
Anyway, it's certainly decreased the amount of time I spend on ivillage today. Oh well. Maybe it will go away in a few days if they get enough complaints. Or maybe I'll enable my pop-up blocker just for that one purpose.
Thanks for listening to me whine. :)

I am so pissed. I have been trying to send an email to tech support. It has a prompt "email this page". I click on it and nothing happens.
I can't post a new discussion. I search tomorrow for a telephone number. Perhaps I could speak to a live person about this issue.

I will see what I can do to get tech support to contact you too, since I know my e-mails are working, etc...
e-mail me at leaderthings@sbcglobal.net with what e-mail you want me to give them and I will help you out as best I can.
Is this the page you were looking at?

When I did the Contact Cusomter Service it came up as a form to fill out, not an e-mail.
Send me an e-mail and we will see if we can't get you connected to the right person.
