First Interview Ever Tomorrow!!!
| Wed, 05-03-2006 - 11:03am |
Hi everyone!
I called back the woman who left me a message and it turns out I was correct, they do want to interview me.

I have no experience with the interview process - just experience dealing with a reading specialist (my son goes to one at school)!
I just wanted to give you some ~~~~~ Good Luck ~~~~~~ vibes (and calm vibes ;) for your nerves).

Great on getting the interview! Obviously they like you and they already know you -- they like you or you would never have been called. So that's a huge plus. I teach Middle School -- the level of the kids you would have. I am at school now (LOL) but needed a boost from this board before school (!) Anyway -- my suggestion: be really positive but calm. Use phrases like: I don't want to work toward just minimum competancy -- I want to take them as far as they can go. ---- Reading is the cornerstone to all their academic success -- kids do better with lots of encouragement and celebration of each small success than with punishment etc. -- How you personally love reading and want to share your excitement with the kids. That you will absolutely follow their selected reading intervention program and will work hard to find ways to make it "accessible" to them. That you are very open to suggestions and working with a mentor teacher -- that you will always ask the students' teachers for input etc. You are a team player, not the cheese standing alone.
Good luck!!! You have waited a long time for this.
