How has the price of gasoline affected you most?

  • I am not affected by it
  • Less driving in general
  • Less driving for fun/social
  • Spending more of the budget on it
  • Other prices I pay have gone up because of it
  • I am using credit cards to pay for it more often
  • I am buying less gasoline
  • I am more motivated to decrease debt
  • I am using creative ideas to get thrifty
  • Other

Because we are living on credit to a certain extent, gas is one of the things we put on our credit card each month. I'm really working hard to figure out ways to not charge it at all, which is increasingly difficult as the price per gallon increases.

I am definitely more aware of prices and check Gas Buddy for the current best local price and fill up if I find something lower. I'm also starting to use some money from my business on gas to help ease the family's burden.

We definitely plan our trips out more efficiently and don't go out on days we don't need to be out anyway. I also try to drive more efficiently (coasting when possible, etc.).

For longer trips, we take DH's Saturn, which gets much better gas mileage than my Tahoe.

I can generally drive the Tahoe for 2 weeks between fill-ups and DH can drive his Saturn for almost an entire month if he doesn't do any distance driving. So our gas bill is somewhere around $200/month right now.
