Hi! Just skating along today.....spent too much on food as usual....so going to try to economize the rest of the week. Nothing new happening on my debt journey. Just holding in place. Anxious to see the numbers tip downward, but no way to do it for another week...bummer.....

While I am waiting to find a snowlake large or small, or just get paid and make a monthly payment, I am trying to focus on other things I have, other things I have to do, just generally distract myself from the debt journey so I don't make myself crazy, and there are just other things I have to take care of in my life. I figure if I can get organized, get control over some other things I have to deal with and try to enjoy all the stuff I already have I'll be accomplishing something for myself, and I just bet that will help me during and after this crazy debt journey. I am going to do it! I am going to win! Yes, most of the time it IS one day at a time. That's okay. Are you going thru the same thing? Are you doing something like this?

I'm looking forward tot he spring....we had several great weather days here, great for walking, enjoying the trees and flowers....Can't buy that!

Take a deep breath...take another one...we're going to be okay! Littlesbigs

I always find your sign-ins so encouraging! This captured exactly how I've been feeling with our debt journey. It takes so long (it seems) in between paydays and I am mentally a few paychecks ahead, thinking of what needs to get taken care of.

You're right, Spring is here, and although it is supposed to rain for the rest of the week, it is so pretty and green. My boys and I are enjoying the flowers we planted last fall; with the rain, it is also a good excuse for snuggle time on the couch and a good movie.

I just need to remember the important things (my family) and focus on what we have already accumulated and deal with that. I organized a little in the kitchen on the weekend and that felt great. Good to be able to find stuff under the sink. I still need to do a lot more (and prune my vase collection...too many!!!), but I keep thinking baby steps, just like that movie What About Bob. Step by step we will make it, DH has been wonderful and doing all he can to stay within our spending plan. I am so glad we are on the same page, even he has noticed the good conversations we've been having lately. Nothing brings you closer together like debt. ;)

You hang in there too! We can make it!

I hear you on the waiting for paychecks business. It really can be hard to stay positive but think about how you are in a much better place then you were. I agree with the distraction part. I have started to focus more energy on getting healthy and having more energy! I find that helps distract the mind and keep me from a) obsessing over debt and b) going shopping!
I agree with the poster who said a movie night in is needed on a rainy day!! It really helps!!

Hello,

I have to restrain myself from planning where the next month's paychecks will go. I'm plugging away at our debt, slowly but surely sending a little extra to the target card each time. I get frustrated occasionally because I want to send *more* toward the debt than I am, but I'm not willing to work a second job. I already work fulltime and have a part-time home business that is starting to bring in extra income. My DH works in a salaried position, so overtime isn't available for him.

I have been applying for executive assistant positions in my area for the last four months. All of a sudden, when I posted my resume on CareerBuilder, I'm starting to get calls from recruiters / temp agencies ready to interview me. It's rather disconcerting to have heard *nothing* for months and now it's all happening at once. I'd love to work closer to home, for a little more money (or a lot more, lol!) than I'm making.

I noticed that others have posted about getting new jobs that have a shorter commute and involve a paycut. Since I'm relatively satisfied with my current job, (no work problems, just a long drive) I've been holding out for "equal pay or higher" than my current salary.

Since my husband currently works at the same company I do, if I find a job that's closer to home, we won't save much on gas (actually, we'll spend more with two cars going different places instead of sharing one), but I'll have more time for my part-time business if I can get home faster. Right now, I leave at 6:30am in order to get to work by 7:45am.

Sincerely,
Lindsey Schocke
