Happy Mother's Day!

Have you been having a good one whether you are a mother or child today? Do you celebrate this day?

Did you get a lot of gifts, or did you spend a lot on gifts? Did you go out to celebrate or stay at home? Did you have an interesting phone conversation?

Did this day affect your debt total/ debt journey in any way?

Are you thinking about Father's Day yet?

Have a great day! Littlesbigs

We'll celebrate later today by going out to dinner and might rent a movie.

It's been a wonderful day. I am so blessed to have 3 beautiful, healthy (CRAZY!) children and be able to hang out in a nice, safe home with them and their wonderful dad/my DH. We hosted the ILs for lunch and it was nice. They bought me a new pair of PJs ~ I definitely needed them! I wish I could see my mom but I'll call her in a little while. I talk to her pretty much daily anyway. She's my hero!

To answer your questions:

Have you been having a good one whether you are a mother or child today? Do you celebrate this day? Yes! See above!

Did you get a lot of gifts, or did you spend a lot on gifts? Did you go out to celebrate or stay at home? Did you have an interesting phone conversation?
DH gave me an IPod and travel kit. I know ~ very extravagant for people who are in as much debt as much as we are. But (1) the IPod is actually my 10th anniversary gift (our anni is next month) and the travel kit is my Mother's Day gift. He gave it all to me now though so I can start using it. (2) He paid for it with his poker winnings. (3) He bought a refurbished 20G model ~ it's very cool for not the latest, greatest most expensive thing out there. (4) The CD player in my truck has been broken for over 6 months and we don't have any good radio stations here and only 1 that I'm comfortable with the kids listening to. We discussed fixing the CD player but decided it was worth it for an 8 year old truck and the IPod would be much better. See ~ I can justify anything?! LOL!

The truth is I'm a bit frustrated that he spent so much money on something so frivolous when we could be using that money to make strides against our EF and debt. On the other hand ~ it's nice that he wants to spoil me. AND it didn't increase our debt at all since it was paid for in cash.

Did this day affect your debt total/ debt journey in any way? No ~ I bought my mom's, MIL's and grandmother's presents with cash and sent MM's and grandmother's home with my mom last week so I wouldn't have to ship them.

Are you thinking about Father's Day yet? Definitely. I'm having the children's pictures taken together. We don't have nice pictures of the kids and they're impossible to work with but our photographer is awesome. I have been saving money here and there from my business for a month or so and buying their outfits (they're going to wear all white) as I find them cheap/on sale so I can pay cash. I have a little bit left to save and an outfit for me and a shirt for DS and then I'll be able to pay cash at the studio. The pictures will also be part of his birthday ~ which is the same day as Father's Day ~ present. Our 10th anniversary is 4 days later so it's an expensive week for me and I have to figure out how to do keep it all within our budget.

I have no idea what to get my dad and my FIL. They are always so difficult to buy for. Any suggestions?

My MIL's birthday is between now and then and I'm going to make her a mosaic heart. She collects heart boxes and I've always wanted to make her one. I have the supplies so it's just a matter of me sitting down and making it. It will be a treasured, well received gift and won't cost the family anything. NICE! I'm sure we'll also have them over for lunch.

Glad it is over. Havn't heard from my DD yet. She lives about 1000 miles away and is woking all day then going to her MIL's for a cookout. Went to my mothers for diner and I got her a card and a nice nightgown. She never buys things for herself. I was hoping to get atleast a card from her but no such luck. Nothing from DH but did hear all about diamond earrings SIL got from her DH. Worked on plans for parents 50th annv. party also. Time for a bubble bath and watch a movie.

Hello,

> Have you been having a good one whether you are a mother or child today? Do you celebrate this day?

My DH and I don't have children, so we didn't celebrate it, but my family *does* celebrate Mother's Day.

Sincerely,

Hi Little. I have to say, I read and enjoy all your posts!!!

I had a relaxing mother's day. Just resting. We had company last week, and went to Disney the week before that.. so I haven't had a break!!

We got Outback Steakhouse take out and watched the finale of Survivor! My DS (he's 3) .. he got me Stadium Arcadium for Mother's day. (New Red Hot chili Pepper's CD) LOVE IT.

That's about it. I had a pretty inexpensive happy Mother's day!!!

I am not really looking forward to Father's day. It will be the first one without my dad.. so it will be hard.

I will make it really nice for my DH and DS though!

Have a great day!
