I'm just curious who in your life gives you the best and worst money advice?

I try to keep my money and my relatives apart. My relatives don't have any money sense at all. The only advise I take from them is "Save your money," but beyond that, I do not listen to them.

I do a lot of reading of online and newspaper money news, try to get a general feel for the economy and try to make my own decisions.....I am a moderate risk taker....

For debt advise, this board is very helpful and sensible.

Thank you, Littlesbigs

I get good advice from mom and sometimes from dad. Right now, dad is suggesting I push hard for a job that would be a 3 hour commute each day and I really don't think it makes sense to take the interview seriously that I have tonight knowing how much extra I will spend in gas!! He also said I should drop out of college because there aren't any jobs anymore for college grads. I didn't take that advice and graduated. My sister isn't the world's best either since she doesn't understand the delayed gratification thing LOL. Usually my best advice came from my old boss, he was the controller/hr person and could help play devils advocate for anything I was planning.

My ex in-laws were the worst for financial anything. MIL didn't work, SFIL had a shopping addiction for high priced items. He would then feel guilty and sell the new 5,000 camera on ebay for about 2,000. They would rack up xmas debt that they wouldn't pay off until the next xmas (if even then) because xmas was to be a huge deal. FIL was always telling my ex to live to enjoy today and not to worry about the future. Great advice, FIL couldn't change jobs even though he hadn't had a raise in years because he could not afford to pay for his medicines for 3 months out of pocket! No savings, less than 5,000 in a retirement fund and he is in his 50s.

Truthfully, my dad and my mother in law have the best money sense.
