Thank you, Becky, today was a fresh start on the week.

I was in class today, and the concept of the day was defining what you want to do on a project. I have to think it thru, but I know there are ways to apply it to debt reduction, but I'll write about that later......after class, I went home sick, slept...haven't been able to THINK yet, or at least not until now. I am much better now, by the way.

I am psyched to make payments towards the debt tomorrow! I still have to figure out what methodolgy to use to pay the rent since the whole online payment and mailing the payments concept came up last week. I'll do something about it by Wednesday. Still thinking it thru. It throws off my whole bill paying system, I think. (timing of making payments changes) I have to rework the whole system again, I think. Well, debt reduction is a job. Thank heaven for pencils, paper, and electronic spreadsheets!

I'm going to be laying low on spending this summer. I have a couple events I know I will have to save for this summer, and the only way to save for them is to stop spending and SAVE, SAVE, SAVE HARD! There is a lot of pressure on my budget with the increased energy costs, and I can't afford to be frivolous.....I hate having to think thru every penny, but I can tell you that that has started for me. I have found myself discussing internally that $1.50 for a cookie could be saved, spent better later on other things...yes, that happened today. Now it's not calories, it's pennies!!!!!

Except for maybe some jeans and sandals, I think I am all set with clothes for the summer. I have swimsuits and towels for the pool. I have sunscreen SPF 60.... I have enough t-shirts, and I have work clothes that just need to be ironed. Not a lot of work clothes, but enough to get by until I get frustrated and go to the outlet mall......well, let's hope it doesn't get to that stage!!!!

I plan on not using the credit card unless I have an emergency this summer.

I finally got the bill for the car repairs from last month. The garage guy said it was 6 months same as cash, but it turned out to be 3 months. I had to double up on the payment, and that meant I had to rework the budget for this paycheck.......I just keep reworking that budget...too many surprises.......

Another item I have to spend on this summer is going to be toting my sick uncle around to the doctor, etc. Gas, garage parking, food.....adds up.

So this may be a tough summer to get the debt number down. I guess I have to get tougher. What's that saying? When the going gets tough, the tough go shopping????? Well, I think we have to rework that saying for us DSGers!!!!: "When the going gets tough, I don't let it affect my debt!!!!!!"..........Yeah, that's it!!!!

It is the twists and turns and intertwining that makes the debt journey at least interesting...................

Best wishes, Littlesbigs

No, no, no....the *SAYING* for us DSGer's is.....

"When the going gets tough, INSTEAD of shopping we come to the board!"

(same as not letting it affect your debt though ;) ).

Hmm....could the not getting sweets mixed with debt be a new debt reduction concept somewhere????

Counting calories while you count pennies is a good idea for anyone trying to shed a few pounds. ;)
