End of the school year expenses

AAAAhhhhh, I am pulling out my hair. It seems like all the year end school rewards/trips are hitting at once. I know it is not that bad in the end, but I hate the nickel and dime concept. $2 here, $5 there. And my kids teachers this year do not seem to be giving timely notice. Maybe I am the only one that plans our spending by the 1st and 15th pay periods. It is just annoying, but school is almost over.

Thanks needed to vent on that!

Hi, Michelle---Well, it is that time of year and I also am feeling the wallet pain---baby showers, grad gifts, secretary gifts, weddings, party favors, etc. One inexpensive idea I stumbled upon (not my idea, but found it on a website)--coffee mugs with flowers or ivy in them. Then, they can plant the flower, keep the mug for pencils, tea, coffee, etc. Whiz.

I absolutely feel it too. With three kids that means roughly $20 per tacher for gifts plus about $20 times three for soccer coach gifts plus the occasional $10 here and there for class parties or field trips or group pictures. My son also has a birthday in the mix so that is a a party. My kids have birthdays in December and May -- the two busiest school months and most expenseive. sigh. And let's not even start on cost of summer child care . . .

Jenny,

I feel for you. Luckily I don't have any real birthdays, only pretend scchool birthdays at this time of year. And my dh works an opposite sift as me so we don't have the childcare cost. If we did though, I would have to quit my $9/hour job because 5 children in outside care would cost way more than I am making!
