Hi! I am doing okay today. Looking for snowflakes and opportunities, trying on new ideas, looking for something my family joking calls "low-income fun."
I am just looking ahead to a rather expensive weekend. I have to go to a Jack and Jill party...never been to one, but looks like I have to bring a lot of cash for raffles....as if I didn't pay enough for a party-time, I guess the object is to make money for the bride and groom rather than giving gifts......I'll take $30 so the whole thing will go to $50,and that is IT.
I have a TEMPTATION to avoid this weekend....I have to deal with it. I CANNOT spend on it.....I know this....I know this..........oh, the TEMPTATION......BREATHE thru it......Distract myself...................I can do this. I need my money for another trip later anyway, so I just have to remember that.....there will be other sales.......Truth be known, great memories are not made out of attending sales!!!!!!!
I can't find my scissors. If I buy a new pair, it will be $2....but I know they are in the house, and I will find them, so I am doing sort of a self-discipline exercise to FIND them rather than buy another pair....I want to save that $2 or maybe snowflake it. I'm putting that $2 aside, and I am hoping when I do find them that it will become a snowflake...In the meantime, I am cutting coupons with PINKING SHEARS!!!!
Have a lovely weekend!!! Littlesbigs

What have you found to distract yourself from the sales this weekend?
I am really frustrated too...
Hi, Aravis!
I am working on that distraction thing....I have my distractions for this weekend listed in my last posting, but I know I have LOTS of crafts and computer projects and cleaning to do that could keep me busy for literally MONTHS. This summer I think will actually be not so bad to deal with since I have a lot of things to enjoy at home like the swimming pool and the gym and my bicycle and and and.........I am realizing all I have and how lucky I am to have what I already have.
There is one more trick I use..........the "desparation self-trick".........If I CAN'T afford something I want to do, I try to make other plans with other people so I have to show up for that instead of going to the mall/sale................OR I start a project that I can't put down for awhile like "beauty day" (cream on my face, legs, body)or a cooking project that takes a while and has to be finished.......or I try to find something that just really absorbs me and my attention.........It takes some practice.
AND there is that wonderful thing Becky said that I frequently remind myself of : There will always be another sale another time.
Best wishes, Littlesbigs
