Well ~ the baby EF . . . but I'm still really excited! I received my check from the life insurance company and it will be more than enough to finish off our baby EF.

Our current goals: (1) continue tweaking the budget and staying within it; and (2) $750 tithing promise we owe our Church.

We have a REALLY long way to go but it feels good to have gotten a good start. I might even get to report a snowflake in the near future!!! : )

Yeah! Doesn't it feel great to meet one of your goals?! I think for me, it really motivated me to keep plugging away every time I met one of my small goals, just seeing the progress made it so much better! Great job! Thanks for sharing!

You may be new to the board, but you are already an inspiration!

Hello,

Congratulations on getting that baby emergency fund saved! This will really help you later on when you have opportunities to send a few snowflakes to your target debt. With a baby emergency fund ($1000) you don't have to worry as much about those unexpected bills that could melt your snowflake.

I have found that the longer I have an emergency fund, the fewer "emergencies" come up, because once it happens, it is now an "expected" expense that I'll set up a sinking fund for with Ing Direct. It doesn't mean I put away a huge amount each month, but I add a category and start putting away a little money to cover it when it happens. Things like an auto repair bill under $1000 or our auto insurance premium, which shows up every 6 months, is no longer an emergency. =)

Sincerely,
Lindsey Schocke
