How we're all doing

Sorry everybody, I know I haven't been very involved since I joined. It seems that just when I start to get involved, some happens and I skitter off for a few days. Now I'm around, and hope to be for at least a little while.

My husband and I went to the local credit union to see about getting a loan. It would be easier, and smarter for us to lump our debts (remember, they're mostly family) into one sum that we paid off each month, PLUS, we'd be earning credit with it. We were approved for a tee-tiny fraction of what we were asking. It's to be expected, but kinda disheartening. Plus, we found that some bank in Illinois (we live in Texas), some 5 years ago, has an account with an over due balance, under my DH's name. What the heck? Now we've got to figure all of that out.

We're considering taking on a roommate to deflect the cost of living around here. It'll help a little bit, which is great. We got gas yesterday for 2.59 (which is bloody fantastic). I've been looking into getting a job in the same location as my husband, so that we could at least car pool together (ie, save gas). I was able to feed, and diaper the family for about 150.00 (which is fantastic for us).

Things aren't good, but they are looking up.

Try not to get discouraged Sarah. Maybe you should just take the money that the bank is willing to lend you, especially if you can pay off even one family member what you owe them. Borrowed money between people, family or friends, always tends to make relationships a little strained, even if everyone says it is fine all of the time. Stick to a budget and just work at it a little at a time. And keep checking in here more frequently. I find this board to be a huge motivator for me. If you haven't checked out the totals on the snowflake site please do that. It is amazing to see how much debt some people have managed to pay off. It doesn't happen overnight but with dedication it *will* happen.
