Just wanted to write this out because right now i'm at a loss. About a month and a half ago I spent almost $2000 on my car to get things fixed on it. These were not normal wear and tear repairs, in fact, every year I'm replacing something that should not need to be replaced on a car that's 7 years old. But, GM "knows" that this part or that part has an issue, so the new part on my car now has a lifetime warranty. Then something else break and so forth. It's a never ending cycle, and the cost is getting steeper every time I take it in to be repaired.
Well this morning, my battery light came on. The battery was replaced last year so I figure it's the drive belt or something that has worn out. I don't know how much it will cost me, but I have to find something different. I live by myself, no family by me, so when something breaks i'm up a creek. I'm thinking of leasing something really cheap, that way i'll never have to buy another GM part again.
I looked at my finances last night and it is going to be really tight once I bring in another car payment. My CC debt isn't going down, and because of these darn repairs i've had to do, it's only gone up. I'm going to be 30 this year, and I want to break that $30K mark and get it below that so bad by November, but now I just don't feel like it's going to be possible.
I know things will get better, but i've been waiting for 6 years and it's hasn't gotten any better. I'm going to wallow in my own self-pity for another five minutes and then pick myself up again. Thanks for listening... :)

If you go on line to Kelly Blue book you can find out how much you car is worth. You can also see different models of used cars that are available in you area. AND they have something called "car fax" which gives you the history of the car you are interested in.
For sure you don't want another car payment.
Good luck with all of this.

Brandy, HUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am sorry you have had such crummy luck with your car!
I'm a GM brat myself! My dad worked there for 35 years. Heck I work for an ad agency that has one of the GM brands as a client, so I'm with you on that. I'm just so frustrated with the whole thing. This car has been nothing but problems since I bought it 7 years ago but under the lemon law, it's supposedly not a lemon.
I'm not a fan of leasing, i've never leased before, however, for me, it's making the most sense. I need something reliable to get me home to visit my family a few hours north of here, I don't put alot of miles on my car, and the payments are cheaper. My dad has a better discount than I have, along with an extra $1000 that I can use towards a purchase or a lease of a vehicle, so that will help me out. Believe me, I would love to buy something used, but the guys that I work with are not at all mechanically inclined. I'm looking for a temp solution for a couple of years, once I pay other things off, then once the lease is up, i'll probably purchase a new or a slightly used vehicle.
I don't know, I'm just in a slump today, it's quite a way to start the month of June!
Hello,
Regarding leasing, I would suggest avoiding it. I would consider selling your current car and finding a used one that is reliable. Edmunds.com has a list of the least expensive cars to own. Basically, the "total cost to own" a car includes insurance, repairs, depreciation, and the price of a car. =)
Sincerely,
