Speeding ticket dismissed

A while ago I posted a whine about getting a speeding ticket. However, the (rude, btw) deputy made a mistake and listed the speed limit as 35. It was in actuality 40mph. I went down to the courthouse, protested the ticket, and it was dismissed.

Small victory for the "little guy". Saved $170.00!!!!

A happy and wealthier cupcake.

Yeah, sometimes is PAYS to be the squeaky wheel.

I really WAS speeding that time, but usually I don't speed much, so I don't feel bad.

Glad you got it dismissed but I would definitely watch my speed in that area for now on. You do not want to run into the same officer again!!

You definitely got that one right! This is on my route to work, so I go down this stretch 5 days a week and usually I'm in a rush! I have slowed way down.

Congratulations to you. Please send some of your luck my way. I was just given a summons for reckless driving, thanks to being on the end of someone else's road rage. I am scared of our courts here. Everyone knows it is about the judge you get, nothing else.

The officer who wrote out my summons put the wrong code on the ticket. He cited me for something else. Knowing my luck it won't make it inadmissible. He also didn't spell but one word correctly on the summons, but that won't make it inadmissible either - I'm sure. I am taking a lawyer to court to help me with this. I think it may help. It is cheaper for me to have a lawyer than another reckless, especially one that I think is unjustified.

Good luck with that.

Apparently, in our county, it's an automatic dismissal if the deputy makes an error on the ticket.

I almost just paid the fine, $170, just to save the trouble of going down to protest it. But now I'm glad I did. I waited and spoke with the DA that was there that day. The clerk was actually familiar with the street where I got the ticket and she verified the speed I quoted. So, they dismissed it without any question.

I drive more carefully now. My insurance is as cheap as can be right now. I wanna keep it that way.

Hello,

Oddly, during an interview I was asked if I had any federal convictions, car accidents, moving violations, etc. I had to answer that four years ago I had a speeding ticket. I've never been asked about speeding tickets or car accidents during an interview for an administrative assistant position!

Thoughts?

Sincerely,
Lindsey Schocke

Hi, Lindsey--Interesting interview question. I could see it if you are driving a company car for a sales position, and they want to look at your DMV printout, if you have any DUI's or moving violations, etc.--they can do this when they do your background check. Maybe they had someone who had to take days off to go to court appearances in the past. Whiz.
