I feel like a trainwreck :(

Hi all,
This could be long and ranting so I apologize in advance.
Overall, I feel pretty together. I am organized, responsible, basically just your normal adult trying to get out of debt!
Anyway, I am not a big drinker at all. I might have a glass of wine with dinner, etc., but I don't drink to get drunk. Not to say I haven't had my share of fun nights out at the bar with the other single girls I know, but at 30, I've learned my limit and I am safe.
Well, Tuesday night my friend called me over for a BBQ. I was thrilled because it would be a fun, cheap night and I haven't seen him in months. (he is gay so there were not alterior motives) It was me and 3 others that I know. I drank a vodka with cranberry before dinner and a half glass of wine with dinner. I should preface this part by saying when I do go out, I usually drink 2 straight Jameson's - I don't drink alot but I can handle strong liquor and I stop at that for the night. I have however had a strange reaction to wine once in the past (one glass made me hallucinate) and I had Steven Johnson's syndrome which is a severe allergic reaction to sulfa and although not medically related, some people say the sulfites in wine could trigger something.
Anyway, I was completely drunk after not even two full drinks, I promised everyone I would stay but for some reason I cannot fathom, I left once everyone fell asleep and tried to take the train home. Now I know this train route but it stopped because it was too late and then I ended up on a bus that was going the wrong direction. I got off the bus and was in the city alone wandering trying to find my way. I ended up falling down onto my face and bruised my nose so badly it was bleeding for quite awhile (miracle is it looks fine) and I believe at that point my wallet went flying from my purse without me knowing. I hailed a cab, realized I had no money, was sobbing from the fear of being so confused and thinking I had broken my nose. The cab got me home safely THANK GOD and I had to wake up my roommate at 1:00 to get in the cab with me to go to the ATM to pay him (I owe her big time). The next day my bbq friend called me to check on me since I left and he asked me what medication I was on because I was drunk after 1.5 drinks in three hours. I said I am on nothing so I don't know what happened.
Well, my license, social security card (i know, i know), my debit card, my check book, everything, gone. I am so fortunate that I have never lost these things but I cannot really get anything back because they all cost money and I have no way to pay for things online to redo. I also am having trouble fathoming all my persosal info is out there. And everyone wants me to have the documents I lost to get new documents. I am embarrassed and scared for how much danger I could have been in. I am fortunate I think my nose is ok (still painful) and thank God, somehow I was safe. After 1.5 drinks. I feel like a drunk but I was just having a social drink. I don't understand this but thank you for listening.

{{{ldp}}} I'm so sorry to hear this happened. It sounds like you were really very badly affected. I'm really sorry to hear the wallet is gone because I know what a hassle that can be. I wanted to suggest you consider visiting your doc re: this episode if you can. I don't know what could cause this but they might and then you'd know how to avoid in the future. I have headaches from red wine and I also think it's the sulfites.
I wanted to encourage you to be particularly vigilant on the credit report checks and if you can swing it, this is the exact time I think someone would want to consider one of those services that notifies you when anyone touches your credit report. My mom's purse was lost a few years ago and literally last month she finally got Direct TV to drop the $90 charges the thief had managed to ring up on her SSN. It's been the source of a lot of grief for her.
Hang in there!

Maybe you should consider calling the police and reporting your wallet lost/stolen? and have them write up a police report. Also, you can call the credit bureaus and let them know what happened and see if they will put a fraud alert on your credit report. this will require them to contact you whenever somebody applies for credit in your name (will make it a hassle for awhile, since it will also slow down your attempts to get credit while they make sure it is all legit.) I did this after my cc was used by someone who randomly generated it in nigeria. It made me feel a little safer.
Anyhow, I hope you are ok. Maybe a trip to the doc is a good idea...
Hope thing get better for you soon.

Hi All,
Thank you for all the wonderful advice.
The first thing I did in the morning was to call my bank and cancel my debit card and put a stop on the check range that was in my wallet since I am not trusting of people unfortunately. I didn't think about the police report so I went to the station last night but was told it was the wrong station and to go to the next town over but at least I got SOMETHING moving! Great idea. And I will have to set up to get credit monitoring although anything that costs money right now I cannot do because I have no debit card nor checks! (I don't use credit cards anymore so I am up a creek!)
Anway, thanks for all the support!! I appreciate it very much because it made me feel so low. My nose still hurts and is a bit swollen but I am safe and I am not replaceable! My debit card and everything else is! I am sorry to hear about someone spiking your drink Anne. That is CRAZY. I have no idea what happened. Maybe I will see my doctor. My boyfriend doesn't quite understand - he wasn't there and just thought I must have drank alot which I did not. So thank gooddness for this board because this is not a story I will share with my mom/best friend so I needed to get it out.

I'm so glad you're all right, and that you made it home okay. It's good that your roommate was there to help you out.
Some nights, when I drink, I can drink quite a bit without getting drunk. But other times, I have one or two drinks, and I'm very drunk. I've done the weird going home, too - I was at a party, talking to a guy friend, and he had called a cab to go home. I just got in the cab and kept talking. I ended up staying the night at his place, and my friends were panicking and wondering where I was in the morning.
I've lost my wallet on the street before, too, and nothing has happened so far. While a lot of people get their identity stolen, a lot of people do not. So you just have to be cautious - it will all work out all right in the end.
