My first steps...

Today I took my first steps into lowering my debt/payments.

I called my car insurance and lowered my coverage to just liability. This will save me $71.70 every 3 months. Then I called the phone company and removed the caller id and unlisted # charge, this will save me $9.25 a month.

I am also looking into changing my internet and cable tv provider. Since I plan to move soon I may wait to do this then to avoid extra hook up fees. When I find out my move date I will cancel these services all together and go with the new company after the move. I will be without these luxuries then...my kids will go nuts..LOL.

I also started my snowflake jar and cleaned all the change out of my car. Plan to start paying my lowest credit card bill off first.

Not yet! I am in such a bind right now that I don't have the money to pay my bills much less have any to snowflake. I am scraping and scrimping to make ends meet ;)

It is a great idea though!! I am working on a new budget/payment plan and hoping to stick to it after I find work. I am nearly out of my student loan money that I got in January, and I do recieve child support, so I could make it another month if I am really careful.

Thanks for the input,

Lisa

Hi Aravis,

Right now I am paying the minimums on my cards. I hope to start adding the snowflake money to the smallest card first to get one paid off and then cut it up! When you are a student they throw all these cards at you and it is very tempting, especially when you have 3 children to feed, shelter, and clothe. So I admit it....I was foolish and charged my life away!

The girls and I are in the summer reading program ;) Adults can read books, write reviews, and possibly win a prize. If I could win that bike I could save on gas!!

I also like your goal idea! I am going to look at my budget/bills again and see what goal to set.

Thanks,
Lisa

I will let you know what goals I come up with!

I did a little 'frugal' shopping today. I got an 8 pack of hotdogs, 2 lb. hamburger, and 8 bratdogs. This will cover meat for at least 6 meals, and I spent about $12 I didn't think it was too bad considering it will cover us for a week ;)
