Okay, I know, I know...that was a terrible play on words.

I recently "found" Aldi's.

$100 for the month on groceries is wonderful!

I love the play on words! I've noticed that some things at Aldi's aren't as cheap as grocery store sales with or without coupons. We shop at Giant Eagle for the fuel perks except for sale items and things that are cheaper at Aldi's. This week, Kroger's has eggs, milk and butter for much less than Aldi's. They are two of their loss leaders. Fresh vegetables are still cheaper at Aldi's here especially the bagged lettuce. It's $.99/lb bag. It used to be $.79 but everything even at Aldi's is going up. Even their chicken breasts can be beat if they are on sale. This week, I found them for $1.59/lb for boneless skinless chicken breasts. Aldi's is now over $2.00/lb. The can good goods can't be beat even on sale. The rest, you pretty much have to shop around anymore.

We keep a list of items we buy at Aldi's and their prices on the refrigerator. When it's time to go through the grocery ads, I get the list off the refrigerator so I can compare prices with what's in the flyers. This has really helped us make sure we get the best bargains available.
