Easy Visual Motivator

I read this idea on a blog this weekend. One person said she was tired of all the charts and graphs; they were motivating for about a week or two and then died off. She said she needed something more substantial to remind her of her debt. She made a paper chain, like kids make in school for holidays and such, one chain for every $100 in debt. Every $100 she paid off, she'd cut it off the chain.
So now I'm thinking about making a chain. I think I'm nuts. I'd need a 220 link paper chain and I already know it would be hanging in my office for another 18-24 months. I also know that it will get ugly: dusty, dirty, and faded. It will make me cringe, which may be motivating in itself. It will make me embarrassed, as in, "What's with the paper chain, Dee?"..."oh, that? ummm...." I'll want it gone ASAP, which would be helpful.
Anyone up for this one?
Dee

That sounds like a great motivator.
Dee,
That sounds like a powerful visualization technique.
You know what? I actually started to make it and it was very powerful. It was kind of scary to see. I put a few together and thought, "This is only $500? I have $21,000+ in debt!".
I'll probably do it later, but in colors that will blend a little more with my office. I couldn't believe how powerful it was.

Aha!
They didn't mention that; but, it's a great idea.
Thanks!
