I feel very isolated by the cost of gas. I don't even just go to the library if I don't have other justifications for going out. I combine library trips with to/from work...and seeing people or doing new social things, it's almost out of the question.
I'm feeling the pinch too. Luckily, I work near my home and have the option to work from home when I want to; but, the price of gas is affecting everything. A loaf of bread from the nearby bakery was $3.25 a year ago and is now $4.75 due to their increased price in flour. Apparently, they're still only making a couple cents a loaf. So staying closer to home is great, but we are in a village where the price of everything is pretty high...I am worried about the summer.
I think I'm going to make a list of my summer goals which will include putting in a garden (we'll work on that this weekend), build a compost bin, put up a clothes line, get some chickens (which means build a house for them out of some recycled wood we already have), make a list of books to read from the library, etc.
I do have to take a couple classes for my job which they pay for, but I have to pay for the gas. It means a raise in the end, but the expense is still mine this summer.
