I am happy that I have been beautifying my yard lately.
What is something that has made you happy lately?
Things that made me happy lately were:
- going to see Sex in the City premiere on Friday with all my girlfriends
- spending more time visiting my parents
- have breakfast with a friend I don't get to see often
What I have done lately to battle the debt:
- I came face to face with the real number that I owe (business & personal debt)
- I came up with a plan to find extra income and I am proud to say I did
- Still will consider moving from my current place and room with a friend to pay down debt faster and afterwards save money and buy a new home
- I am not using the credit cards, they are safely stored away

Read your post, and you made me think. I have been on the board now for a month. And June is awful month all of our expenses have gone up.!
It seems to be getting harder and harder to get out of debt. With the cost of prices increasing, and salaries staying the same. Debt seems to increase. I have to tell you though, that I have read a really good self-help book and power of positive thinking. I want to recommend the book to all, The Secret! It is about affects of positive energy and the universe. Everyone should either read it or see the movie.
Will help everyone. I am going to stop using the cards and stop thinking negative and start thinking about what I can have without negativity. Read and you will see how to use it.
I am happy that the hand I hurt last week while walking around the block is NOT broken, and it does NOT stop me from continuing to walk around the block!!
Robyn:
Great idea for a post!
Today I joined a fuel club that negotiates for a better rate in the NH, VT, ME area. For $40, it could save me up to $1000 next year, if they get the rates they usually do.
Also, we did decide to refinance our home mortgage, which will knock off an additional 2.5 years from our mortgage and combine all of our debt into one payment. I know it isn't advised by everyone, but I need things to be simpler and our home is still worth considerably more than what our mortgage will be.
I've also been emptying out the house one room at a time, simplifying, cleaning, painting, etc. and I'll be having a yard sale this weekend to get rid of all that clutter!

Dee,
Regardless of what anyone else thinks, the refinancing is YOUR business and YOUR decision.
This weekend:
- I didn't stop at any of the yard sales I drove by. I don't need anything!
- I volunteered as a room host during a benefit house tour and received a free admission ticket ($18 value).
- I went to the library and checked out 3 books and an audio book on CD.
- I only bought NECESSARY items at the grocery store.
- I finally balanced my checkbook -- ouch!
