I'm making baby steps!

Hello everyone,

Well, first I want to thank everyone who responded to my "serious budget help" post. So many great ideas and so much support. Thanks so much!!

Today I made my first baby steps toward getting our situation under control. I bought a week's worth of groceries for $110, and that total included the clippers I bought to start cutting dh and ds' hair myself. I plan to buy groceries once a week ONLY. . . so I'm on track to spend less than my usual $600, plus the $40 savings on haircuts.

Not much, but like I said. . . .baby steps!! I'm still not sure what I'll do about employment, if I'll get a home daycare license and go that route or if I'll try to get back into teaching, but I did pull out my resume today as well.

Oh, one more thing--last night DH and I met with our pastor regarding the financial situation we're in, and regarding the offering he told us not to worry about it right now. He said the most important thing was that we are in church every week. . . and dh and I both serve in different areas, so we are giving, just not monetarily. We will halt our monetary offerings while we sort all of this out.

So far I'm on track to cut $465 from our monthly budget. Still a long way to go. Baby steps!

Thanks again for all of the support! This board is the best!!

Great news! You sound so much better and in a place of getting things going the right direction. You've already found 1/2 the money you need to save! Great work!

I'm glad your meeting went so well and I know you'll figure out what best works for your family and your career. :)

great job Just 335.00 to go and you will even and home free for a while.

I would really work on the house loan and see if you can combine it in some way with the credit cards so the payment will start to go down.

Good luck to you and your family

That is a wonderful start, Anne!!

I am not able to give as much as I'd like to church, either, but like you I find ways to serve.
