1. Are you taking any educational courses? Are they geared towards your current career? Are they classroom or online classes? Are they free, are they thru your job, or are you paying for them? Does the price of gas factor into your educational expenses?

No, but I just finished grad school last May. DH may be going back to school in the next year or so. He is going to get his Master's in education to teach high school math. I imagine they will be primarily classroom classes. We will have to pay for them. Gas shouldn't be too much of a problem.

2. What is a typical lunch like for you: what do you have? Do you bring it to work or buy it at work or go out? Do you have lunch with friends or go by yourself? Do you walk or exercise at lunchtime? How long do you have for lunch? If you are working at home, how do you handle lunchtime there?

I used to be really good about packing leftovers every night, but I've been bad since I found out I was pregnant. Leftovers really grossed me out. So I've been mostly buying for the past 3-4 months. I'm trying to get back into the habit of taking my lunch. Sometimes I eat with friends, sometimes I eat at my desk. I used to always use my lunch break to walk with a coworker. Now we only do it sometimes. We need to get back into the habit of walking every day. I have 1/2 hour.

3. Has your employer addressed the new energy crisis in anyway? How?

Not that I know of. I think some departments may be allowing employees to work 4 10s now, instead of 5 8s.

1. I am attending a Paralegal Studies program at my local community college. It's not related to my current career -- it's my "Plan B" in case of layoffs/downsizing. I go to school Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6P-9P, and Saturdays from 9A-12P. The school is on my way home from work, so I'm only spending "extra" gas money on Saturdays. However, it's less than 3 miles from my house.

2. I haven't been frugal lately. Instead of bringing my lunch every day, I've been buying a bowl of soup and a biscuit at work. I bring an apple or cookies and a can of soda from home and get ice in the cafeteria (free with my own cup). On days when I have an evening class, I tend to buy a complete meal so that I'm not hungry until I get home at 9:15. I don't seem to have as much energy/time in the mornings to make lunch now that I'm in school. I pledge to do better!! I usually eat at my desk and read the newspaper, but sometimes I have lunch with friends. I tend to buy more when I eat with friends.

3. We should all be told to turn off our computer monitors when we leave for the day. I always do it, but some co-workers don't.

I was planning to go back to school this fall, but I am waiting until I pay off the debt. I had finished a 2 yr classroom course that gave me a certification as a Credit Analyst, my company paid for it up front. They will also pay for me to complete a BA in anything finance/accounting related...but I am not sure yet if I want to do that. Gas would factor as my university campus is located downtown and I live in a suburb about 25 min. away but some of the courses I could take on-line.

2. What is a typical lunch like for you: what do you have? Do you bring it to work or buy it at work or go out? Do you have lunch with friends or go by yourself? Do you walk or exercise at lunchtime? How long do you have for lunch? If you are working at home, how do you handle lunchtime there?
Ah lunch...usually a croissant with swiss chesse from Tim Hortons...I need to start bringing my lunch in more consistently. Usually my department co-workers and I always go out for lunch every Friday. I have an hour for lunch.

3. Has your employer addressed the new energy crisis in anyway? How?

Yes; they are advocating that we turn off the lights in our offices and departments when we leave each evening. For those who bike in to work, they will get a monthly stipend in cash. Also focusing more on recycling and other methods to reduce printing of e-mails etc... We now have a gym at work to increase work productivity and a healthier lifestyle.
