Yikes. It's amazing the types of scams people come up with. I work for a bank and there are several lottery/sweepstakes scams out there too. If you ever receive a letter or check in the mail stating you won a lottery or sweepstakes, but never actually entered a lottery or sweepstakes, it's a scam. They are most likely fishing for your personal identification plus they want you to pay them misc fees before you can actually cash a check. After you pay them the fees they instruct you to go cash the check and several days later your bank calls you up and says the check you cashed bounced and you owe the money back to the bank. You go to call the phone # on the letter and it's been disconnected. The scammers are long gone with your money and id plus now you owe the bank a large chunk of change.

If you ever receive such a letter, take it to your local police dept right away.
