I was surprised (in a bad way) when I opened my phone/DSL bill today and it was $103 ($21 more than normal). I read the details page and figured out that my special one-year "promo price" had expired. Yikes! I called the cable TV company to find out how much it would cost to have cable/Roadrunner/phone service and the customer service guy said it would be a special one-year promo price of $121. So for $18 more than the new phone/DSL price, I could get cable, too. I was REALLY tempted -- I haven't had cable in 20 years. But I just said "Thank you" and hung up. Then I called the phone company, all prepared to quote the cable company's price and argue about my bill. I was surprised (in a good way) when I didn't even have to ASK that the promo price be extended another year. SHE asked ME if she could extend it for me! No arguing, and now I'm back at $82 a month for another year. No cable, though - sigh!!
