My SO and I went vegan a couple of years ago. That has cut our grocery bill seriously! We can literally make a fantastic dinner for about $7! I also have been riding a bicycle to work as much as possible, or riding my Vespa scooter, which gets 80 mpg. We have consolidated down to one car and try to combine errands to save on gas. We used the proceeds from the sale of the 2nd car to pay off 2 credit cards--yay!
We grow our own tomatoes, chillies and herbs. We rarely go out to eat, but fortunately we love to cook. I have found that having a kitchen stocked with basics saves a lot of money in the long run. We shop the ethnic grocers in our city because the prices on things like rice, noodles, flours and spices are much cheaper than a big chain grocer.
I'm working a second job to accelerate the paying down of my one remaining credit card. This winter will be interesting, since I expect our heating bill to really skyrocket.
Instead of saving so much I put the money on the bills that is the big thing. I spend more time trying to find money to snowflake I think sometimes I go over board with that just trying to keep up with some on the board. I don't thrift store hunt as much as I used too but that has something to do with this little house no where to put things like I did when I had the bigger house.
We grow tomatoes not as many vines this year we had way to many last year so we cut back. I guess I have just stopped spending a lot in general. Coupon more, join saving clubs just try to stay ahead of the game and I try to stay mind full of where the money is going. I have not charged anything for a about a year that I could not pay off in a month So if you make as little as we do you have to watch where and how you spend all the time.
I know how that retirement thing goes. Raymond was saying the other night he thought we would be able to travel and all that after he retired and it hasn't happened at all. He retired in 1999 the first time and then in 2003 the second
After Raymond retired from Kentucky we moved to North Carolina. Because of Health insurance Kentucky insurance would not cover us in North Carolina Raymond started working for the state down there for the insurance

I am making a lot more stuff from scratch now so I try to really stock up when there are good sales on cooking/baking staples.

Hi All,
I know how that retirement thing goes. Raymond was saying the other night he thought we would be able to travel and all that after he retired and it hasn't happened at all. He retired in 1999 the first time and then in 2003 the second
Hi Mary Ann,
After Raymond retired from Kentucky we moved to North Carolina. Because of Health insurance Kentucky insurance would not cover us in North Carolina Raymond started working for the state down there for the insurance
